    Even though dance influences are awesome, don't believe Bono on this kind of thing.

    Oke pop is great but not as great as achtung baby or the joshua tree ....
    i love staring at the sun / please / gone / mofo but for me there are better songs
    written .....
    i love the songs better in the live versions than on the album ....

    Yeah, I understand. And you're right, everyone does have the right to their opinion. I think one of the reasons I love Pop so much is that it's the first release where I was old enough to anticipate it's release and I remember stopping by the music shop on the way to school that morning in order to buy it. You're right though, the songs usually do tend to sound better live than they do off the album.

  7. ATYCLB and HTDAAB both have some GREAT songs and some great ideas. But the second half of both of those albums isn't as strong as the first. They are not the through and through 5 star albums of The Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby.

    For me, the BIFFCO mix of Elevation was the far superior to ALL mixes of Elevation. It would have made the album better. Love You Like Mad (outtake) was more up-tempo and fresh than New York. Live, NY was fine but on the album... a little flat.

    The same types of things can be said for HTDAAB. The single mix of Miracle Drug has a bit more pulsing bass and drives that song a bit more. And the single and the remix Casa De Angeles Mixes of Original of the Species have a bit more sparkle and punch. And while the eastern tone of Fast Cars is cool and intriguing... the tempo, tone, and rock of Xanax and Wine, again just my opinon, but was more rockin' and cool. And after "Crumbs...", "One Step Closer" and the subtle album mix of "Species"... ROCKIN' is what was needed there. Also, One Step Closer... might have a lot of meaning to Bono and to others in the band but either SMILE and/or MERCY would have been a better choice to have on the album. I'd have definitely dropped Crumbs and One Step Closer for SMILE and MERCY.

    I hope that they get it right and make a COMPLETE album. 1 great tracks that jump out of the speaker. I'd like the urgency of Boy and War mixed with the cinematic songwriting of The Joshua Tree met with the sonic textures of Achtung Baby, Zooropa and Pop.

    We will probably have the answer to WHAT WILL IT SOUND LIKE come December 1st. (Chances are the single will be out in early Oct and the album late OCT to NOV

    I recently said that Crumbs was probably the most underrated song of the album, but when I compare it with Smile and Mercy, I believe you're right...

    Damn you put some thought into that, although I pretty much agree, although where HTDAAB is concerned, I thought Crumbs was one of the really underrated songs, and I thought SYCMIOYO just didn't have the same power live as it did on the album. It just builds up so much better and has real force when the middle 8 comes about, but live, for me, it doesn't quite hit the mark. An album that has a strong current all the way through is really what I hope for, whatever direction they take it texture-wise, sonically, thematically etc. They usually get it right even when slightly wrong, if that makes any sense.

    That said, some anthemic rock-type stuff would definitely go down well ...

    I couldn't agree with you more. Crumbs is a nice song, but it does sound more like a B-side at the most, compared to Smile and Mercy. On ATYCLB, I would've dropped Peace on Earth in favor of Love You Like Mad, just to give it that better tempo that you were talking about.

    Let's hope we do hear a single maybe even before autumn?
