  1. That would be good, however Bono's falsetto isn't good enough anymore to do that song any justice,
  2. True mike , I just love that song in an encore setting .

It's one of their signature songs and it contains the heart of the
bigger idea that is U2: Pride, in the name of Love.
It just can't be dropped. It just can't.

And certainly not in these times of terrorist attacks, climate change
and unfair wealth distribution. I don't say that "Love" is the answer
to all this issues, I'm just saying that it is one of the core values of
our civilized society. One that clearly defines us from the terrorist
with their unmatched hate, and one that is hopefully strong enough
    to care for future generations.

Pride is "in" and will stay "in" - o yeah!

I do not say Pride does not like me. But I feel it is overexposed. In any case, I would prefer it to be at the end, or after the Encore. In fact, I'm surprised that being such a powerful song disappears quickly.

  4. My issue with pride is just its soooo early in the show . It's final song before encore material

You're right, Matt, of course, but with the songs they've chosen to play so far I can't come up with any solution that's not anti-climatic.

I'm listening to last night's show (Chicago 2) and I like it a lot, by the way.

I know I keep suggesting things but why not finish with one.

If they stick with the setlist from last night say up until the encore then play

    Beautiful Day
    Elevation
    Ultraviolet
    I will Follow
    The Little Things
    Bad
    One

That's one song extra so if they only wanted to play 21 songs they could just drop bad or one. What do people think?

As one who attended night 1 in Chicago (but not night 2), two thoughts:

    1. I actually loved Bad early in the show. It's definitely a classic worthy of being in "encore" status, but hearing such a powerful song live in just the third slot of the night was unexpected for me - going in spoiler-free - and I thought it was great.

    2. I agree with Beautiful Day and Elevation being a stronger opening to the encore. As others have mentioned already, ending the main set with Mothers of the Disappeared and then opening the encore with Miss Sarajevo just doesn't give the audience as much of a "lift" to begin the final part of the show. But for me at least, though I would have loved to hear The Little Things to end my show night 1, ending with I Will Follow was just fantastic - one of the highlights of the night, for sure. Such a great performance that fired everybody up before ending the night.
  8. Well, without quoting anyone's posts, it's time for me to weigh in here. Went to 2 vertigo shows, 4 360 shows, and 5 I&e shows. Vertigo had the best changes throughout the tour, I believe Bono said something during the vertigo tour that the setlist/presentation of the show is like an amoeba, something that has a state of being but is also constantly changing form. Thus the possibility of seeing the same/similar set list from one night to the next does not mean that this is THE show the band is expecting to perform, but more that it's the band becoming the best that it can be in that state for that time until it needs to change into something else in order to keep alive. This also comes from my point of view from seeing my two vertigo shows occur 6 months apart where both shows were entirely different and had as many as 7 or 8 song/setlist changes. This was THE last tour the band really tried to pull this off. 360 had memorable moments as I was there for the Pasadena DVD recording as well as the Glastonbury warm up show in aneheim which was arguably the best first 12/13 songs the band ever put forth in a show, only bad was missing. But for the most part this JT tour has been the same PRESENTATION of a U2 show from night to night as was I&E, which I attended in 3 different cities over 2 months. So by now we've all attended our share of shows and tours as well as listened in, listened back and followed yet even more of them. I don't quite say that this is lazy on the part of the band because on any given night they are still THE BEST FUCKING LIVE BAND ON THE PLANET, and with all in their 50's, that really means a lot to me. But yes, from the playing with set lists and presentation of an actual concert that they tinkered with on vertigo, and with their EXTENSIVE catalog of amazing songs, this has fallen into the category of just another great rock band putting on another great tour. Now on the PJ vs U2 bit, Pearl Jam is an exceptionally great live band and to change their set lists is something very special for their audience, but it's not even close as to who has the best archive of music to pull from to create those shows, so I guess our boys can be looked upon as not honoring their core audience with the lack of fluidity in their set list from night to night that Pearl Jam and even Bruce offers to their audience throughout their most recent tours..but it doesn't mean that our boys don't try to infect and elevate every person in the audience every night they play with their effort, presence and their ability to create a special moment for all in the audience. That seems to me to be a tough standard to keep throughout a tour, but somehow our boys still pull it off no matter what the set list is
  9. Jesus Christ what an awesome song that is. Great version. One of their best. I'm looking forward to AMS1
