Calm down Aaron. It's just some light-hearted banter. No need to get overtly aggressive.

I hope Drew chooses 'If You Wear That Velvet Dress'

Hm, fuck me? Why would I?

To answer your question: The whole thing. That flowery language and grammatical arrangement make it another masterpiece in the history of american literature.

    And it shows your brainpower...

    Here we go then...

    A Sort Of Homecoming:

And you know it's time to go
Through the sleet and driving snow
    Across the fields of mourning
    Light in the distance

And you hunger for the time
    Time to heal, desire, time
    And your earth moves beneath
    Your own dream landscape

    Oh, oh, oh
    On borderland we run

    I'll be there
    I'll be there
    Tonight
    A high road
A high road out from here

The city walls are all come down
The dust, a smoke screen all around
See faces ploughed like fields that once
    Gave no resistance

And we live by the side of the road
On the side of a hill
    As the valley explode
    Dislocated, suffocated
The land grows weary of its own

Oh some away, oh come away, oh come
    Oh come away, you say
Oh come away, oh come away, oh come
    Oh come away, you say

    Oh, oh, oh
    On borderland we run
    And still we run
We run and don't look back
    I'll be there
    I'll be there
    Tonight
    Tonight

I'll be there tonight... I believe
    I'll be there... somehow
    I'll, I'll be there... tonight
    Tonight

Oh come away, and say you say, oh come
    Oh come away, you say

The wind will crack in winter time
    This bomb-blast lightning waltz
No spoken words, just a scream

    Tonight we'll build a bridge
    Across the sea and land
See the sky, the burning rain
She will die and live again
    Tonight

And your heart beats so slow
Through the rain and fallen snow
    Across the fields of mourning
    Lights in the distance

Oh don't sorrow, no don't weep
    For tonight, at last
    I am coming home
    I am coming home

I really haven't been able to get my thoughts together on this one! Any ideas Lady G, yeah, Drew, Casper...anyone?!

  12. Heres my take on it,

    A Sort Of Homecoming:

And you know it's time to go
Through the sleet and driving snow
    Across the fields of mourning
    Light in the distance

The first verse describes someone trying to find there way home. Its hard because its snowing (which I think is a metaphor) but they can tell were there going by seeing the lights ahead.

And you hunger for the time
    Time to heal, desire, time
    And your earth moves beneath
    Your own dream landscape

The person left there home on bad terms and hopes to make it up somehow. They start daydreaming about what will hapen.

    Oh, oh, oh
    On borderland we run

I have no idea what this is supposed to mean.

    I'll be there
    I'll be there
    Tonight
    A high road
A high road out from here

There meeting up with an old friend who even though they are estranged and haven't seen each other in years will be there.

The city walls are all come down
The dust, a smoke screen all around
See faces ploughed like fields that once
    Gave no resistance

Long story short, the person made the mistake of tryin to fix the past the same time a war broke out. The city is under bombardment.

And we live by the side of the road
On the side of a hill
    As the valley explode
    Dislocated, suffocated
The land grows weary of its own

This verse seems to describe the refugees leaving the city as it is bombarded.

Oh some away, oh come away, oh come
    Oh come away, you say
Oh come away, oh come away, oh come
    Oh come away, you say

Once again I dont know what this is about.

    Oh, oh, oh
    On borderland we run
    And still we run
We run and don't look back
    I'll be there
    I'll be there
    Tonight
    Tonight

The person heading home and there friend decide to get the hell out of dodge.

I'll be there tonight... I believe
    I'll be there... somehow
    I'll, I'll be there... tonight
    Tonight

One of them gets fatally injured.

Oh come away, and say you say, oh come
    Oh come away, you say

    ?

The wind will crack in winter time
    This bomb-blast lightning waltz
No spoken words, just a scream

As the bombardment continues the injured one succumbs to her injurys.

    Tonight we'll build a bridge
    Across the sea and land
See the sky, the burning rain
She will die and live again
    Tonight

She has died but, she lives on in heaven as well as the memorys of those who knew her.

And your heart beats so slow
Through the rain and fallen snow
    Across the fields of mourning
    Lights in the distance

Her friend continues without her, through the blizzard till he finds another city, or maybe a refugee camp.

Oh don't sorrow, no don't weep
    For tonight, at last
    I am coming home
    I am coming home

He decides to live on as she is in the kingdom of heaven and they got to reconcile before she died.

Feel free to disect it more than this. Just my 2 cents.
