    The Blackout is the more rock. They released it first so we wouldn't lose our minds with this song being so Pop and thinking u2 made a Taylor Swift record.

  5. I think it's fun. I'm not crazy about it, but I definitely like it. It's probably a solid 7 or 7.5/10 for me, it could go up a bit as I listen more. As it stands, it's a perfectly fine song. I do think it's a little patched together but whatever, it is dancey and upbeat. Edge really sells it, though I'm sorry his 'the best thing' ending didn't make the cut (on this version, anyway...).

    What new sounds? This isn't new, it's borrowed.

    They're looking at what other bands do and copying them to the point of plagiarism. The Blackout is a Black Keys' song dressed up with a more famous name. YTBTAM is an ode to Coldplay but I'm not sure Chris Martin would come up with lyrics this banal.

    Changing a producer(s) does not equate to new sounds.

    It's like that Simpsons' episode where they sell a new Malibu Stacey: no changes to the doll but they put a new hat in the box.

    To me, the song sounds exactly like what I was expecting after that Instagram post a few days ago, where someone was told they have a few hours to redo the mix for the track, or something along those lines anyway
    They clearly write a song they are happy with otherwise it would have stayed a demo but to seemingly work and work and work on it doing multiple mixes and adding bits suggests an insecurity in the same songs. I'd love an insight into the bands writing and post production processes but I could nearly 100% guarantee that the end product is quite far away from the raw footprint of the song.

    Same happened with Magnificent and Unknown Caller when they were teased in the Fez sessions. So close, yet so far away.

    I'm leaning more towards The Blackout right now BUT I also am a fan of mainstream pop too and there is something nice about a happy rock song on a sunny day!
  11. Yes, a little overproduce, but like it moves around a bit. Am i the only one into this chorus back to verse maze?? A few listens has helped for me. Yes, that bridge is hot!
  12. Love the lyrics and the vocals! Not so sure about the music, Spotify sounds better than the radio !
