Since, i bought ALL singles and lps in cd, vinyls, tapes, videos. Nowdays i've hundreds of official items in every format, spending a lot of my hardworked money to U2.
From 1989 to 2004 i swapped and trade about 1000 audio lives, soundchecks, interviews and more on audio and more than 550 lives and tv appearances on VHS video.
This summer, in Paris, i saw my 40th U2 concert since my first in belgium, werchter 1993.
I've listened to "blackout"and "best thing" and for me i think it is the "worst thing" about my U2 loving.
I think or is over, or i will still have pleasure to listen their music from 1979 to 2015 (to be gentle). I ve REALLY listened the album "THE JOSHUA TREE" more than 1000 times in 30 years, really!
But it seems i find U2 music nowdays as an girlfriend that i dont understand and life makes that we must leave.
As if U2 wanted to mais me eat McDonald's (and i ate once or two times at 47, and i prefer suck a stone and drink warm water rather that shit) rather than french food which i'm used to...
To resume, i think my 34 years relashionship is over... no sorries, no blames, just a fact. I thank U2 for all theses moments of joy during my miserable life but i'm fed up of what they are in 2017.
Without any anger, but maybe tired,
As an irishman told at the popmart tour in 1997: Good night, Fuck Off!

So basically... U2 in 2017 isn't the same as U2 in 1984 and because they aren't doing exactly what you want them to you're having a fit over it.

I don't like the comparison of U2's music to a girlfriend because in that relationship there is collective action to a common interest. Sorry, but that's total garbage. U2 doesn't owe us anything. U2 didn't promise us anything. If U2 made music based on some sense of obligation to their supposed fans, the product would fail to be a genuine reflection of who U2 are. U2's music draws my attention because I have no doubts about it being the genuine product of who they are. The moment U2 decides to bend themselves backwards for the whims of us fans, U2 will cease to be U2.

If you decide to leave, sorry to see you go. But let's make it clear that fans follow the band, not vice versa.

If you dislike the song _that_ much, why bother spending the entire day writing about it in this thread?

THIS! I'll never understand why people put so much energy into being so negative.

I get that it might not be everyone's cup of tea but the comments I read today really sucked. It was really hard to read, especially after having a really shitty day. The bickering back and forth is really quite sad and in my opinion very indicitive of how this forum has been in recent months...just like the rest of the Internet and the rest of the world.
  3. I became a fan in 1984 as well. The diehard fans loved Achtung Baby. The casual fans thought they sold out. Although it did take awhile to understand how deep that album was. As first people thought it was a dance album.
  4. Yeah I definitely think the comments of "U2 suck now" can be kept to themselves, especially when we haven't even heard their new album yet, not even half of it. The three songs we have heard are all very different. I don't know how you can be a U2 fan and hate all three lol.

I like all the songs so far, each have their quirks that I'm not a fan of, but what U2 album doesn't?

    Achtung Baby.
  6. I like the song, I don't get the hate. In fact I like the three versions. I agree that there are some issues with all of them (what the fuck with those background vocals, why is the chorus so different in one, I liked the save me from myself lyric in Kygo)

I don't get the overreaction "lookthe band changed, I won't love the anymore because of 1 little song fuck this band *sadface*"

You can still like the band despite they have one song you don't enjoy. And as some people have said, they don't really need to please everyone
  7. Yeah the Star Wars mix is better

I am tempted to say we deserve everything, as we have given them a great life, but I know I would sound like a moron. They only thing we really deserve is a 10 disc Pop Super Deluxe with the original scrapped version of the album, and a 15 disc Rattle And Hum set with 10 cd and 5 Blu Ray, and don't forget, another 20 or so Blu Ray with all the shows in the best quality. Yeah, that is all I deserve!

  10. I don't like the background vocals in that one, but the chorus works better. Ending is good only with Kygo
