1. That’s the only thing that would make sense unless it’s not made to fit yet and we have to wait for them to inform us of the changes by email at which point the full number might fit.

He he, I actually got a response today (from somebody at u2.com this time). It seems to me that they employ politicians

Not that it would help in any way
  3. So, here's the brilliant reply I got from U2.com:

    Hi Greg,

Thanks for contacting U2.com. I am pleased to be assisting you.
We apologize for our late response, we have received an unusual amount of emails.
We are diligently working to answer each email in the order received.

Sorry to hear you are not sure if you successfully signed up for the SMS Messaging.

You will not receive a confirmation text, once you have entered your mobile number!

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Hope this email finds you well and enjoying the day, Greg!
If you need anything else, just reply to this email!
    Sincerely,
    Candace
    U2.com Team

Ummm... ok. Gee. Thanks, Candace. But how about this - But is there a way you can confirm if I am signed up or not? Is this link not active yet, maybe? Is there a technical issue? Or does everyone just stay in the dark until tickets are announced to see if they have successfully signed up? Can you elaborate a little more rather than just basically telling me I'm shit out of luck?
  4. Basically to sum it all up shambolic. It’s like they aren’t ready for the changes to roll out yet and didn’t think we’d notice the change in our account but now that we have they’re stuck for what to say.

Pretty much what it sounds like...

I won't be doing it, 95% certain, unless they guarantee there is no extra charge for the international SMSs. Ticket demand is only getting lower every tour and I'm probably just aiming for general sale or getting tickets later on for whichever show I'm attending. No more presale madn€$$ for me

I entered my number in just in case already, but I might be joining you in waiting until general sale this time around if the "competition" for presale tickets gets ridiculous. The only thing I'm worried about is if they do arenas again, will it be harder to get GA spots again? Pretty easy on JT but that was a stadium tour...
  7. I have been reading the posts here and hope that some of the things I am reading will not come to pass.
The idea of competing against anyone to attend a rock and roll show is a no go area for me. No band is worth my attention in that arena.
If that becomes the case with U2 then they will have failed us.
The usual way of ticket allocation has worked for anyone who has become a member of U2.Com so any change to that seems futile. To make people purchase albums in multiple formats etc is a marketing tool I will refuse to be a part of even at the cost of seeing U2. They are a good band and I have fantastic memories of shows and meetings etc but even they can fade into history if this is the way things are going.
  8. Having asked a few questions to U2.Com earlier i have received this in the last 5 minutes...

    Hello Julian,

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us, and we would be more than happy to assist you with your issue. First and foremost, we apologize for any frustration this issue has caused you. Rest assured, that we are definitely here to help. In regards to your issue pertaining to your situation we are are aware there is an error message with the sms system and are looking into it.

As for your membership status as long as you have not let your account expire or lapse for 2 years then you will be a red hill member, if the account lapses at any point you will be put as a wired group member.

If you need anything else, we’re always here for you - just reply to this email. It was truly a pleasure to have been the representative to have looked into this for you. Take care, and we hope you have a great day.

    Sincerely,
    Rick

From that reply are we to take it that the Red Hill and Wires groups will still be active for forthcoming ticket sales? And still under that name tag?

Just thought i would post this in case it helps anyone here!
  9. Thanks Julian

The 2 year thing is new to me, interesting
  10. That literally just came through moments ago. It may be relevant to people here who think they may have elapsed just by weeks or a month.
If it helps people then they can quote the reply I received so the people at U2.Com have an idea of what questions we are asking etc.
It is good that they can offer up such information to us prior to what we know is coming.
It has been a fair system previously. To allocate options to fans who are a part of U2.Com.
it is hoped they will listen to what we are asking or requesting so that everyone stands on equal footing.

Wow! You got a fast reply. I actually did let my membership lapse very briefly, so I guess that will bump me down a tier and miss a day's pre sale (I think that's how it worked, right? Red Hill was Wednesday and Wires was Thursday?) Kinda sucks, but I kinda get it... Will definitely make a difference with Arena shows. I figured I'd still keep Red Hill status. I thought Wires would be for those who registered once they found out tour date was imminent...
  12. If U2 really let this "competition" happen, without taking longtime membership on u2.com into account, it may seem smart marketing at first glance. Push album sales, push ticket sales, this way even more tickets can be sold at secondary markets like Seatwave, StubHub, because it is not so clear anymore who gets a chance at buying good tickets and who does not. And u2.com may try to sell it to us that scalpers will not do all these efforts as it is too time consuming for scalpers. However, I think it causes severe damage to their reputation/image that they care for and stand by their long time followers, who might be not that active on soclal media as Justin Bieber fans for example. I wonder if the band knows about this.
