Anyways, let's not turn this thread into one where we complain about the complainers.

Ontopic: this song is growing on me. Still not liking the chorus a lot but I really love the verses where Bono sings very fast. I wonder whether it will be slowed down a bit in a live setting. Thoughts?
Agreed. I've grown to like the verses quite a bit, but yeah, the chorus doesn't reach the heights of the other song that this one sort of sounds like (beautiful day).

To be honest , U2 fans have been spoilt. A band in there 50's still touring and writing new material. We will only realise what we had when it is no longer there! Social Media doesn't help. Could you imagine the forum's if they were available when Achtung Baby was released. It would be like this:

Zoo Station - what the f*** is that noise at the start?
EBTTRT - a song about Coke or Drugs - Useless
    One - Too Slow;
    UTEOFW - No singing WTF
Wild Horse - at last a traditional song
    So Cruel - Depressing
The Fly - What happened to Bono's Voice- will never be played live
    Mysterious Ways - Repetitive
TTTYAATW - Lyrics are not worth a shit
Ultra Violet- Scatty song that doesn't make sense
Acrobat - U2 that I love would never have sworn before!
Love is Blindness - what a rubbish solo by the Edge!

    Rant Over
There is one important difference: With Achtung Baby the were pushing boundaries, tried to find new sounds and didn't care of charts... They were creating the trends in 90's, not following it...
This song (GOOYOW) is just poppy attempt to get to the charts... that's my opinion
But I like the other new songs... just not this one...

There's definitely truth in what you are saying about pushing boundaries. However, until we hear all the songs and experience the live show it is far too early to comment.

Has anybody commented negatively on anything other than what we’ve heard already?
  5. Just to give a perspective, in a forum that shall remain nameless but was recently closed, the new U2 songs were compared to a dog being neutered, just for sport, and they were saying things like that since 2000. Now that is negativity.
I think everyone here expressed their opinions in a reasonable way. Like Bloodraven says, there's no need to repost the same opinion too many times in a thread.

I've already talked about it in a different topic, but the creating trends and pushing boundaries in the 90's is totally different to what I remember, I clearly remember the criticism being way too similar to the criticism they've had today, from pleasing the radio waves, to overproducing, etcetera, which makes me think that this is an argument with a lot of influence from nostalgia.

I know, I was just commenting this ecact song... And nobody here is hating whole album without hearing it...
  8. Not only talking about the songs on SoE. The JT17 set list, Bono's voice, etc. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but this is simply mine! The level of bickering in some of the posts recently didn't happen 7-8 years ago (or maybe I didn't notice!).

When you have to report on the JT17 tour setlists and they are all the same in consecutive nights, what else are you supposed to say? Setlist were the more static since Popmart. Now that is just stating a simple fact. It's not being negative. We have said here many times that we were not criticizing the shows for the people that attended. Now you can say "I don't care about the setlist as long as it's a good show", which is great, but people also wanted to know if the setlist changed in a given show. I can't say "Yeah man, they played Acrobat yesterday!".

I think it's going to be played inside the screen instead of Invisible, that way Bono doesn't have to move a lot and it will be easier to sing.

I just remember some conservative rock fans hating it for not staying clear rock band, and using electronica. But people in 90's usually took them as really cool and modern band who is doing what they like and didn't care for charts in.
