1. It sits nicely next to SOI, if you ain't heard SOI then you won't fully get this album, loads of winks to it...

Good mix of U2 on it too...if you want the rockers and chest beaters - Blackout - American Soul - Red Flag Day

If you want classic U2 - Little Things - Love is Bigger - Get Out Your Own Way

If you want fresh new U2 ideas - Lights of Home

Poppy U2 - Best Thing - Summer of Love - Landlady

Lots to get your chops around!
  2. I listened to the opening two tracks, but then had to shut the stream off because of how INSANELY GOOD they were. My plan is to grab my pre-ordered vinyl and listen to it with my dad (as is tradition with new releases) and I felt bad without listening with him. Only way I'll be listening before Friday is if there's a HQ Rip from a CD or vinyl that ends up floating around that i'll be able to download and drive over to my parent's to listen. From everybody who has listened to it in its entirety sound like they really really enjoy the record. Cesar in particular has been real skeptical with some of the tracks that have already been released, but his excitement with the other songs is reassuring.
  3. Summer of Love, on again, like Wicked Game/Man and a Woman...
  4. For those that listened to it. If you were to combine the two albums (SOI + SOE) what would your tracklist be?
  5. To me the album is as good or as bad as ATYCLB or HTDAAB. 4 terrible songs, then the rest are very good. Summer of Love is an instant classic.
Not as good as SOI for me though.

I think Love is bigger is quite possibly a top 5 u2 song ever. That is everything I want in a song and what an ending to a show that would make. Goosebumps, shivers, the lot.
  7. The strings on Summer of Love...lush!
  8. finally i got a first listen

summer of love: too hyped song, weak for me
    red flag day: best song

songs that can be 5* on future: the showman, landlady and the little things

of course is a first listen only, but not a hyped or emotionaly review like more opinions that i read IMO
  9. Any song where Bono shouts? (ei, Bad, God Part II, etc.)
  10. If someone doesn’t explain how to listen to this I’m going to start posting that giant poop picture again. Posting reviews and then slapping “DON’T ASK” in the thread title is a dick move.

    Just sayin

I think we need a couple of weeks to really judge what we like for the long run. I still really love SOI. And you put these 2 albums together and it’s really amazing group of songs that sound so good together. I really like the fresh sound of SoE even if sometimes I’m asking if it’s u2 or u2 doing a cover of someone else. But either way it’s fresh.
Also really love the way they connected these 2 albums with lyrics and melodies.
  12. Anyone get Light of Home and Cedarwood Rd have a connection, musically esp? The chorus's sound like they link from both songs.
