So it seems U2 have done it again, and advertised an album with the worst songs on it... I don't mind actually. Makes for the best surprise when you get the album I guess !
    Guilty as charged !
  2. Interesting ranking form this lad...when I say interesting I mean shit

Since they have done it now multiple times I am wondering about their marketing strategists. They can't be that stupid that they do the same mistake again and again. Even if you consider that they held multiple listening sessions with industry experts and other folks during JT30. After that it definitely has to be strategy for whatever it is worth. Otherwise you have to fire those guys.

That’s me. Hell, the songs I didn’t like I actually do like in the context of the album. American Soul is under a totally different light for me being surrounded by songs that ARE songs of experience. It’s like Bono wanted one last song to sing about his love for America and it just works. “You are Rock and Roll” becomes the completely watered down statement of why he loves the country, I didn’t see it that way before.

Fucking holy shit this album is good. Those of you who rank SoI up there with JT and AB, not sure where you’ll rank this album. It’s just incredible.
  5. holy fvuk..... still heavent listned to.... keep the faith its classy\ic u2 AJTB

I don't think they made a mistake this time around.

I don't think those are the "worst" songs (maybe they are, yes, even though I liked them), but they're certainly the more radio friendly/accessible, and as far as I know, they kinda worked (at least Best Thing, and I've read good comments on AS).

So, it's not really a mistake this time. They're reaching to a different audience.

But yes, the rest of the album has nothing to do with those 3 tracks.
