  1. I think they fit if you think about each song as a letter like they keep mentioning. But yeah, there are songs that would’ve been way more exciting as singles lol. Love is Bigger needs to be heard. It’s like Window in the Skies but with a way more significant message.

    I'm struggling, because I really don't want to say that I believe 2 of their best 5-6 albums ever are the last two... but, so far I'm really impressed by SOE.
    I won't rank until honeymoon passes, maybe I'll get bored of some of these songs, whatever...

    I do think they fit. (I'm talking about Best Thing, Get Out, and American Soul, the other 2 fit perfectly).

    Right at the end of Lights of Home, when Best Thing starts, it sounds great... but 10 seconds later my mind is like "yeah, I've already heard this one a lot, let's skip everything to Summer of Love! now!", so I'm skipping them.

    Once said that, those 3 sound totally different to the rest of the album.

    I think it’s maybe just because they sound familiar to us while the others are still totally new. Maybe they’re not necessarily sonically different. Honestly it’s hard to tell with the quality of the version we have now.

    I feel that this album is filled with "stripped down" songs... summer, red flag day, showman, landlady, even Blackout... those contrast with the amorous and glamourus production of Best Thing, Get Out and even American Soul...

    I mean, isn't that sort of like saying So Cruel doesn't belong on Achtung Baby because it's not like Mysterious Ways? Or like If God Will Send His Angels shouldn't be on Pop because it doesn't sound like Mofo and Discotheque with their more radical style?

    I don't think it's anything new. I mean compare In A Little While to something like Stuck in a Moment, you know?

    (following your examples, So Cruel fits in Achtung Baby, but if So Cruel had been the lead single and you hated it, you have to consider that the rest of the album is totally different).
