1. It's growing on me. It's scary hearing Bono start it off saying, "Shouldn't be here cause I should be dead." It seems we almost lost him last winter.

He told Hot Press recently, "Last winder I was on the receiving end of a shock to the system myself, a shock that left me clinging on to my own life like a raft. Now lots of us have a brush with mortality at some stage, whether it's our own or someone dear to us. It's an arresting experience. I was arrested."

Sounds like a heart attack to me.
  2. I am skipping them as well. However, it is mainly because the new ones sound more fresh. Wouldn't say yet the others don't fit in. Want to give it more time.
  3. It’s got to be the familiarity.
  4. I tend to skip that section (tracks 3-5) but only because I rate Best Thing and American soul as the weakest and I think it’s quite clear. GOOYOW I like though but I’m enjoying getting into the others just now.
  5. I think they are better in the context.

  6. Haha I haven’t had time to listen to this yet - but just reading your comments Alex - after all I’ve read from you the pas weeks - has made my day!
  7. Obviously it's very early days, but for me, the album is a triumph. Bono especially, puts in a serious shift, great vocals and gorgeous melodies.
  8. I think it’s better than all you can’t leave behind.
It has higher highs and many of them.

It’s very similar in tone, a little darker in places.
  9. It's like a sci-fi movie song meets road movie song meets western movie song meets gospel, absolutely loving it. Killer coda.
