  1. His knee-jerk impressions read like someone told a huge fan of the album to try and find things they COULD complain about if they wanted to.

    This guy is no fan. There's a difference between not liking something and just being plain stupid about it.

    "Red Flag Day" - "what is this all about"

    I mean, really? Dude doesn't know his U2 if he doesn't think Red Flag Day is stellar.
  2. To those who haven't listened yet, beware of the "Stranger Things" Syndrome...

    The album is GOOD.
    But is not "spectacularly good".

    The hype is deserved, but if you buy all the hype, you'll get disappointed.

    it's spectacularly good for a band having to compete with their back catalogue classics like JT and AB after 40 years. Is it better than these two? No. But it's brilliant nevertheless.

    I'm 49 and you are 26 (if your profile is correct). I grew uo with Boy and October. I still consider myself as a U2 fan after so many years.
    For me this album is not bad and has the masterpiece (little things) I missed on SOI.
    One of their best? No. So I don't like this album? No. My highlights? Little Things, Bono's voice and the contribution of Adam. It still has to grow, this album. It's what I expected.
  8. I think this album is what 21st Century U2 should be and what they've been aspiring to do for the past 10 years but never quite got there (see NLOTH). They should be very proud of this album, it's got heart, soul and melodies peppered throughout.

    All the songs are so strong that it is intended to be listened to in it's entirety, it's very hard to skip entire songs or not listen to others when you are playing it. The sign of a good record? Definitely.

    Stranger Things isn't even that good and it's overhyped. It's just a Goonies and Stand By Me rehash. This album is actually good, unlike that show.

    I'd say he's quite the long term but slightly disinchanted fan.
