1. Honestly, the album is pretty ordinary. Would be a fairly disappointing way to go out. SOI would have been much better
  2. This is growing on me with each listen. There's nothing I can say I dislike. Yet, there's nothing that punches me in the gut like Iris, Cedarwood. RBW or TIWYCRMN...

I so disagree. I feel like this is the most unique sounding the band has been in nearly 20 years. Also it's a rare thing when I can get into these songs in a single day. I dunno man, SOE feels special.

  5. Short Answer: Yes

Long Answer: I might be one of the younger fans here, but this is now my final year in college, and looking back, I've now had a U2 album for every major milestone in my life. Atomic Bomb came out when I was beginning to actively listen to music independently, NLOTH dropped when I hit my teen years and now SOI and SOE have bookended my college years. I think there's something personally satisfying about being able to take SOE with me into adulthood and be able to cherish this band forever as a major part of my experience growing up. I don't think there's any way it could get more special for me.

Sounds lovely. I had a similar experience.

ATYCLB- Junior High, beginning to question the world
    HTDAAB- High school
(Achtung)- First Year University (Bought at a flea market)
No Line- Finishing First Degree/Seeing them live for the first time
SOI- "Adulthood"/Life Going nowhere...this made me feel so much better
    SOE- Turned 30

    Love it!

Don't let anyone else's opinions cloud what you're getting from the music. We all take different things from it.
  8. Lol...

    I'll play.

War - 7th grade, sister played it but I preferred Duran Duran & YES
Blood Red Sky - 8th grade, good GOD, this band is awesome live
Unforgettable Fire - Sophomore year - first U2 album I bought on release date - too young to get to show
J-Tree - senior year and my first rock concerts U2 FANBOY stage at its peak
Achtung - first date with someday to be wife was my first ZOOTV show
  9. It seems that every SOE review has to contain the sentence "since their iTunes fiasco". So the short-term consequence of that stunt was millions of one-time new listens, a few weeks of old U2 albums trending in itunes, but the long-term consequences are that they are now remembered for that "fiasco" and SOI was never taken seriously.
Doesn't seem like a good move to me.
  10. They should have just made it available through iTunes to anyone who wanted it.
