But to be honest, rarities are not likely or they will be dropped soon.
I don’t think you’ll find many u2 fans that agree with your idea of a safe Setlist. Carrying songs on from the previous album to the next tour, especially a handful of non singles, could be considered as risky a Setlist you could ask for from u2. In fact to many that would be just about the dream scenario, dropping some of the overplayed hits and keeping room for both SOE and SOI.

Everyone can have their predictions. But my prediction, because this tour is a continuation of I+E, there is a high possibility U2 will play the same songs and overplayed hits this tour as I+E with a few SOE songs. And there is a high possibility the show will have the same general concept and almost the same visuals as I+E. I agree with robotsandmonkeys.
  3. I think we'll be surprised...one way or the other
  4. Dream out loud Joyce ! I don't want to spoil it. Psst: remember last tour The Joshua Tree. Encore: Beautiful Day, Elevation, Vertigo, Mysterious Ways... and so on

...after a truckload of deep cuts!

Of course, and it’s possible you’re prediction could be far closer than mine. In fact I hope it is, it would be a pleasant surprise for me hearing the likes of cedarwood road, raised by Wolves and iris again and I’d happily eat my words.
  7. I agree. But I don't consider any Joshua Tree song as a deep cut. Because it's the key album and most sold record in U2's career. Every U2fan knows the Joshua Tree. It's safe for U2 to play and the reason the stadiums sold out.

With "one way or the other" I meant: either surprised by playing the i+e set once more, as you seems to suggest. OK, you won't be surprised, but I surely will! I mean, I take it that the concept will be the same, but all SOI songs will be replaced by SOE songs. Take for example the BBC broadcast. Anyway, the other way of surprising is indeed the "dream out loud" variant!

BTW: I would be very disappointed (and surprised) if Beautiful Day doesn't make it to the set.

And remember: being surprised is just a state of mind. It's fun

PS: no way they going to repeat the SOI songs

The BBC Broadcast is no comparison. It was a short setlist in the promo tour. I'm not sure Lights Of Home, 13 and Love Is Bigger Than Anything In It's Way will all make it to the setlist, without orchestra, btw. I think U2 will play the following SOI songs this tour: The Miracle, Cedarwood Road, Song For Someone, Invisible And Every Breaking Wave. All with the same visuals, and The Miracle as show opener. They play Beautiful Day every show since 2000. I'm suprised they are not tired of it.

no more The Miracle and Invisible, please! the most weak songs in the IE Tour
  11. The Miracle was more interesting than Iris, Snooze for Someone.
  12. The Miracle was very good. Never understood why people berate it.
