  6. The Grammys are irrelevant and people buy any shit you sell them from an Apple ad. That album is a snooze fest.

    If Grammys and sales are the indicators of artistic success, that would mean Zooropa, Unforgettable Fire, Passengers, POP, and NLOTH are terrible.

    There is some validity to what you say but you’re also way off. While I totally agree that sales and awards are not the be all and end all for judging the quality of a body of work, they are not to be ignored.

    I'll repeat. The Grammys are an industry love fest. They have done nothing but ruin artistic integrity. When you speak of sales, remember, George W was reelected the same month as the album was released. People are morons.

    There is a reason the band have only regularly played two songs from that album since the vertigo tour ended.

    It wasn't that good, it was a hype piece meant to sell iPods and was a poor excuse for a record. NLOTH actually sounded like a band who were trying.

    I think you can judge quality of work whatever way you want including either including or disregarding sales figures. There’s no right or wrong when it comes to someone’s views on music, it’s about being open minded enough to accept someone else’s view though. October is my least favourite u2 album but I’m quite happy to accept if it’s someone’s favourite, it’s maybe hard to see it from that point of view but it’s not hard to accept that point of view, it’s a lot harder to accept direct negative feedback to a post because it’s like a challenge to you’re opinion which isn’t really necessary, not wrong or anything but not necessary.

    I just don't understand the contingent who think HTDAAB was a great watershed moment!

    Even October's weakest moments showed them striving. HTDAAB is the sound of a band coasting in order to try and recapture what they did in 2000. Even the tour was a re-hash.
