In their 2012 indoor tour, MUSE had a roulette for one song each night. It went spinning and if it went black, they performed one hit (Stockholm Syndrome), if it went red, another one (New Born), and if they hit jackpot, they played a rarity & fan favorite (I remember Dead Star, Citizen Erased and a few others). Of course it was rigged from the start of the show, it wasn't actually random in situ, but I remember audience went wild and it totally worked.

Totally agree, this right now reminds me off the Eno-esque production thing with the deck of cards. Like they have a wheel of songs and maybe they are rehearsing them randomly to see hot they sound?

It will feel cheap as an actual prop in a U2 tour.
