Just as much as anyone, I'd love to see two very different setlists from night to night, of course... But as Christopher says above ↑, not at the expense of two of the potential biggest highlights being thrown out.
I agree it’s very unlikely they’ll rotate a full section it would make sense for them to move wild horses and acrobat somewhere else in the Setlist to accommodate raised by Wolves and Sunday Bloody Sunday if they’re determined to play them. I reckon wild horses and acrobat in that order would go well after staring at the sun and before pride. I think staring at the sun and The ocean are the most likely rotationals from what we have so far, possibly with another acoustic number to rotate with SATS (Stay please) and an early track to swap with the ocean (an Cat Dubh/Into The heart would do nicely). Don’t know what else though maybe showman will rotate or one with WOWY. I think we’re not going to see many more songs enter the equation through for opening night.
  2. The idea of Stay rotating with anything makes my heart ache
  3. In a good way because you’d maybe get to see it at least once or in a bad way because you wouldn’t want to see it in and out the Setlist? I’d love to hear even if it could only be once, it’s back to being my favourite song, it stirs all kinds of emotions, and takes me right back to my childhood and all the way through my life to be honest. A song that really means a lot to me.
  4. apart from the last part of Zoo TV Stay never had a permanent slot in the setlist. I think we should be a bit careful with all these premature setlist worries. 2 weeks ago we could only dream about Acrobat being played live, now some are worried it will be in a rotating slot. In general rotating songs should be a positive thing.
  5. It was always played half-assed anyway. I'll take a good performance of Wild Horses any day.

Indeed, we might be over-reacting a bit.

    Both!

I don't recall having written this, but I subscribe 100%.

Just in case my previous post wasn't clear enough: I LOVE Stay. I'd LOVE to see Stay performed, even if it's half-arsed, even if it's just once. And of course I'd prefer it to be full band like in 1993, but I'll take an Edge&Bono version over most of the songs I've seen 4 times or more! Heck, I'd take an Edge&Bono version over 95% of their songs

In U2 terms, it would be like rotating Acrobat with Mysterious Ways and then rotate Exit with Still Haven't Found. Same albums but oooh so different songs.

(goes without saying that I got the bad rotation )

I really hope U2 don't do that. Ever.

Oh man, they're notorious for that. I've been so lucky with the gigs I've gone to. I wasn't there but London '09 got Guiding Light and Feeling Good on night 1...the next night had MK Ultra and Cave. So much better!

This is why I try my best to make it to both nights for Muse and U2, it's annoying (not to mention expensive) but I'd be gutted if I missed some rarities one night and heard something I've already seen at the show I attended. Hopefully they'll make each show a good balance

I think you make a fair point it’s just genuinely a shame for people maybe only attending 1 show if they were to rotate certain songs and they missed out. Maybe unfortunate is the right word, i’m not saying it’s terrible of the band or anything and they can only do so much but music can mean a lot to people and songs can mean a lot and hearing maybe there favourite song would be something they cherish forever. As I said the band can’t fulfill every individual fans wants but I guess it’s just preferences we’re all stating just now. From my point of view if I got acrobat and wild horses at 1 Of The 2 shows I’m attending I’d be more than happy. And to go back to stay seeing that again in any form again at even 1 Of the 2 shows would be a dream come true, I’ve been lucky enough to see it live once but it was so long ago and I was so young that I really don’t have a great memory of the show, just happy to listen to the bootleg every now and then.

Stay and STUCK are like brothers now. Taken out during b stages and special events. I agree that Stay is an amazing song and Sydney 93 being the best version.

I remember Stay being played in Holland in 1993, that was verry good as well. Hope to hear that one again
