  1. I've been to three ZooTV shows where Wild Horses was played. Didn't work. But they're much better musicians now.

Lucky enough to see Wild Horses in 1992 and thought it was great (didn't know much better to be fair) but was happy to see NYD the year after. How was it on Vertigo... I'll have to listen back as can't remember.
  3. We saw Wild Horses twice on the Vertigo Tour. Is was very good and I'm glad to have seen it live, but I agree that NYD is a far better song live.

i remember sitting outside Twickenham Stadium 18th June 2005 whilst they were soundcheckng it, and it sounded real good, as it was a full band version, unfortunately as we know they did not play it that night, but instead the following night which i did not attend.
  5. Yep, later versions of Wild Horses worked better than the one's they did during ZooTV. If they do it this tour I expect it to be great, I think they'll nail it. And Acrobat, too. There is so much great guitar work in Acrobat.

Good glory, you sound like a broken record. There have been very good reasons given to expect that the setlist will change very little show to show. If you choose to ignore them, fine, but don't expect everyone else to.
The tour hasn't started yet and going by the negative bile posted on here about what songs they are not supposedly playing it makes you wonder why they even bother with the band.

Negative bile I guess we all must love everything they do all the time no matter what.
  8. HMTMKMKM is pre recorded for the intermission
  9. No. But again there is a difference between loving everything and hating on just about everything and yet still going to shows.
  10. I think the band get an overly hard time. They are doing at least as much as most other bands out there when it comes to setlists if not more. When it comes to the show as a whole they defintely do more than anyone else. It would be so easy for the band basically post HTDAAB to play only greatest hits sets with the albums that followed not being a major commercial success. However they’ve always brought new material into the setlists and always looked to bring back songs that aren’t obvious choices. I think people struggle to accept when the band don’t meet there preferences and I don’t think that’s fair, there really should be a level of acceptance that the band aren’t going to totally satisfy your wants and that will only grow as they release more stuff because the competition for a Setlist spot increases and things need dropped. Looking at what the band have been rehearsing I defintely accept certain negative views but as a whole the Setlist is very good, it’s risky, full of new stuff, bringing back songs from SOI which was clearly a far from obvious choice as none of us had predicted it. Acrobat could well be a regular, they’re looking at bringing back wild horses, Staring at the sun, the ocean, ABOY, 4 songs that could easily be replaced by the likes of overplayed stuff such as mysterious ways, ISHFWILF, Bullet, and angel Of Harlem, but no they’ve looked a little outside the box. Only around 1/3 of the Setlist is hits which is not a lot for a band as big as u2. I honestly feel people who aren’t happy with the rehearsals want too much from the band. As i said I’m not dismissing every negative opinion but it’s the wave of negativity that I think is unfair.
  11. anybody else besides me want to see the BBC version of AIWIY/WTTW?

It is about MLK and he had been a huge inspiration for Bono and the song stands for so much "experience" in their career. Now how it will fit in the narrative I suddenly see the speech of his granddaughter on stopping gun violence mix with the famous I have a dream speech .....

Awareness on gun violence has always been important to them, BTBS which is now not in the set list! This is how such an oldie would become relevant again ;-)

Plus it's the 50th year anniversary of MLK's death. Amazing it was that long ago!
