Yeah, the "first in uploading" race ended two tours ago, in 2015. It was a combination of factors, but the availability of mixlr/periscope recordings is the major reason I think.
Goes as follows: a taper spends a few hundred (or thousand, as you very well know) bucks in gear, and it takes dozens of hours and gigs to master the technique and become used to the gear. Then, the taper riskily sneaks the recording gear into the venue, does their best looking for the best sounding location within the venue, records, edits and shares the recording...
Only to find that a crappy sounding 128kbps mixlr rip was uploaded a few hours (or days) before, so her/his recording goes unnoticed for 90% of the bootleg's potential audience. It's discouraging and I perfectly understand why more and more tapers are taking their time to share the recordings – or just not doing it altogether.
