    You should know that Dieder. Our national Dutch team were beaten earlier that day by Ireland when Jason McAteer scored. When Bono sees that beachball, it reminds him to the glorious (and deserved..) win earlier that day. He kicks that beachball into the crowd and than he says: 'There's still faith'. He still has faith in the Irish National Football team...it seems.

    That's my explanation...

    I think it was about the football-game earlier that day. It was some funny coincidence to see that beachball there in front of Bono and Edge. Maybe that's why the laughed about it. Dunno...
