  1. The big thing this tour for me isnt the setlist.... Its the sheer amount of prerecoding backing tracks. Its so obvious as well. Most of edges vocals arent even live on the new songs. Lets Summer of Love down to its just a bit awkward, like an xfactor performance. Best thing has the strings and backing vocals, so does lights of home. Love is bigger only sounds big and full because of all the backing vocals. Get out also has those muted prerecorded vocals at the start. Like just do without all that. Id rather just here it live even if its not as full. Just a simple backing track would be OK like that have used in the past, but this tour takes it way to far IMO. Thats what I expect on Broadway not from the greatest live band on earth.

  3. I really do hope these four rehearsed tracks do "earn their way into the setlists" - as the band members themselves call this kind of process - or, in case of WILD HORSES, may reappear again. Let's wait for the next four nights in Milano, for GB and Ireland (where maybe the European topics might be changed connected with the opportunity giving other songs a slot in the setlist) or even the last night in Berlin.

    But as just mentioned in the Madrid thread: For everybody planning to attend the Spanish gigs please try to "meet and greet" the band before these concerts: Enjoy the shows, enjoy the narrative (how long this band will play for us nobody knows ...). And if you really like to have some changes within the given story frame and the fixed setlist slots - you might ask Bono and the others for a personal song request. Two examples:
    - SPANISH EYES. Yes, even though it is from 1987, it is not on the TJT album. It has not been played in Europa at all in 2017. It has a live history deeply rooted with Madrid. And: It does fit the narrative (Ali!) so perfectly. So give it a try as a full song request or even as a snippet request (for example in VERTIGO).
    - THE LITTLE THINGS. In 2017 there were only a few performances in Europe. It does fit the storytelling about doubt, frustration and the light of hope perfectly. Even full or as a snippet (instead of Kraftwerk's HALL OF MIRRORS ?), let's give it also a try, folks! U2 have always been interested in song requests by its audience.

  11. Remy.... This news makes me pumped for my 22 hour flight from Aus haha hopefully it happens. Hoping they either add the songs or we get the rotation between these songs and the current set.

Over the years I've noticed the only way U2 change what they are currently doing is for some half credible journalist to write a stinging article about they are doing musically and on stage e.g. Rattle and Hum was savaged by some of the musica media who said U2 were stealing from the past and claiming it as their own most of the fans liked it but Paul McGuinness pin pointed an article that Robert Hilburn wrote for the New York times that hit home with them and got them thinking about charging musical direction ,the Sarajevo link up in Wembley stadium was savaged by the press they cut it from the show the following week ,the Apple gate fiasco made them retreat back to the normal way of releasing albums no doubt they had plans for SOE to be put into peoples accounts the same way as SOI in general they seem to change things if they are criticised by the media not by fan forums etc.
