Experience and Innocence tour
Legs (3): Promo tour, Leg 1: North America, Leg 2: Europe
Shows: 75
  1. One thing that we do maybe need to take into consideration come the next tour how great will it be hearing Streets again and WOWY for that matter. They’ve always been great live and maybe some will disagree but unlike other songs that get played all the time they never lost there spark, but the first show they come back we’ll all really appreciate them again.
  2. Before the tour started I fully expected WOWY and Streets to be in the setlist. They're two of the songs I want to hear the most, and even make sense narrative wise to put in the setlist.
  3. I, who see a U2 show only when they come to Brazil, don't feel the slightest desire of WTSHNN and WOWY in the setlist.

True. They'll certainly be back with a vengeance next time round and will likely never be dropped again...so at least there's that!
  5. I'm not the biggest fan of WOWY (please don't ban me) but the return of Streets gives me shivers just to think about it

Wish I was as confident as you about there even being a "next tour".

  7. I think there will be. Before the tour started I think it could have been a doubt, but judging by interviews from the band I think they wont stop here.

I don't doubt they'll put more music out, but believing that they'll be taking a pretty extended break after this tour, I can see them saying in a few years "we don't really want to tour anymore", or "we don't think it'd be in our best health" or something.

I’m pretty sure they won’t quit without doing a farwell tour.

Most of edges vocals arent even live on the new songs. Lets Summer of Love down to its just a bit awkward, like an xfactor performance. Best thing has the strings and backing vocals, so does lights of home. Love is bigger only sounds big and full because of all the backing vocals. Get out also has those muted prerecorded vocals at the start. Like just do without all that. Id rather just here it live even if its not as full. Just a simple backing track would be OK like that have used in the past, but this tour takes it way to far IMO. Thats what I expect on Broadway not from the greatest live band on earth.

That + a guitar player that has become possesed by a ‘sound’ and only can play the same songs each night = this lame tour.
At least i+e had Some great rotation and as a whole was just better.

Ok popmart and zoo tv had mostly the same setlists each night, but had great songs and a pace, that shows just went on like a rollercoaster. Now there are to much ‘xfactor’ kind of songs, shows falls dead at times. Just not great, let’s be fair; who likes love is bigger and lights of home? I don’t.

Love is bigger and Lights Of Home are amongst the songs I’m most looking forward to hearing and probably the 2 best on the album.
  12. I wonder whether there will be another tour too...

There was some noise recently about a re-signing of the Live Nation contract but nothing official. You would have thought that if something had been agreed and signed then there would have been an announcement made by LN at the very least as it would have surely insured a boost in share price.

Look at it this way SOE probably hasn’t been as big a success as the band (and LN) wanted it to be - and let’s be frank it was never going to be. The E&I tour, in the US at least, was not a sell out - that must the first time since 97’ that US seats have gone unsold - and not just in minor cities but NYC, Boston, Chicago, LA. Cities that you’d expect them to sell out 2-4 arena shows over night.

That’s not great when you’re at the negotiating table. From LNs perspective you’re probably thinking it’s a good few years before you can market another tour in North America. And what LN really want is the greatest hits tour - a la JT30 - they don’t want a show touring the new record because the casuals (the vast majority of the audience) want to hear the hits from their youth.

And let’s be honest JT30 wasn’t the bands idea (or only partly anyway). I’d guess it was a contractural agreement that they needed to complete a stadium tour before the deal was up and all parties realised that E&I wasn’t going to do the business. To back this up there was an interview with Adam a good while back around the time of SOI / i&e in which he said that he saw (at that point anyway) the SOE / E&I bit being in stadiums.

Finally, what else do they have to achieve? They’ve done it all, the greatest live band of all time, tours and productions that no one has, or will ever match in terms of both scope and of course ££$$€€. If they don’t want to be a heritage act then perhaps this is the time to call it a day at least in terms of what we know as U2 as it is (mega tours / big marketing / ‘trying’ to be relevant - mainstream).

We’ll see anyway...but the lack of info regarding LN does have me thinking that something might change...
