    The GA argument doesn’t hold any water either - I’ve tried to get GA for the last 3 tours and failed - I’ve stood and danced and sung my heart out at all the same.

    My brother and had a few cross words with some people at one of the O2 shows in 2015 who were asking us to sit down - bear in mind this was at the start People Have The Power into The Miracle - not even the boring bit (the SOI bit basically). We told em quite clearly that this was a rock n roll show!! Sorry if that was you!

    Anyway I’ve seats again next week in Manchester and I intend to be dancing and singing my heart out all the way through - sorry In advance if you happen to be near us!
    I really hope you meet the wrong person one day in the seating area...
  2. Could happen but perhaps a lesson would also be learned if someone just goes and complains to a steward who will give you two options, sit down or be removed from the venue. I’d never wish anyone a disappointing experience that includes people on both sides of this argument but I do find people’s disregard for others pretty shocking and disappointing really, happy to ruin someone else’s show because of there wish to stand even when the person you are effecting has done the right thing buying a seated ticket and expecting to be able to sit and enjoy the show. Just to give an example let’s say a person sitting in row f has problems standing so you’re sitting in row c and decide to stand, the person in row d and e then do the same thing you’re putting the person in row f in an awkward position, the person might not want confrontation and have to sit there getting half a show because of your selfishness.

    Yep. Just like at football matches, if someone complains about you standing up you will have two choices. 1) sit down or 2) be ejected.

    I remember my Joshua Tree show last year, sitting to the left of us was an elderly father (maybe 60) and his 3 sons (all adults). The two people sat in front of them stood and danced the whole show. Never once looked behind them to see if anyone else was effected. The dad and their sons spent the show leaning left and right trying to look through the gaps. They actually left early, missed the whole encore. I don't know whether this was because of the people in front or because they had to catch a train etc. I have seated tickets for Manc 1, London 1 and Dub 4. Obviously I would love to stand for the whole show, I expect maybe I can stand for a few songs, but if I'm obstructing someone else's view then you just need to accept you're in a seated area, and people want to sit.
  4. I have a dissability. If you look at me you'll say nothing is wrong with me, so you can't tell I have the dissability but it's there. Because of it I can't stand for that long, or if I choose to do so (like yesterday) I know I'll pay the price the next day. But that is my choice.

    In Cologne I had an argument with the guy next to me. I was in the seats on row 1 but there was enough room to walk and dance there between the seat and the rail.
    First I've asked him nicely to sit down. Second time not that nicely anymore. Third time was when the namecalling from his side started. At that moment I was ready to fist him (cause my fist just work fine) but other attendees saw what happened and intervened. I'm usually very tolerable but I'm not paying 200 euro's to look at someones ass.

    So Reach1985....sorry in advance if I'll fist you. Apologies accepted, agreed?

    Good on you for challenging the person to sit down, I’m sure you’ll appreciate others in your situation might have not wanted to cause a scene or felt too intimidated but you were absolutely right and you did it the right way as well, polite to begin with but when the person got nasty you didn’t back down. I hope it wasn’t too much of an inconvenience on your show though.

    My show wasn't affected, it lasted for only 3 minutes or so. It makes me mad though to see a reaction like Reach1985, so maybe he realises hearing my story how his attitude can ruin an experience for both sides. Cause actions causes reactions.

    I always speak up. A lot of times I ask the people who continuois chatting if they "find it really annoying that the band plays over their conversation cause I can ask the band to stop". Reversed psychology is a real fun way to point out how annoying someone is

    That’s good to hear it was only a short confrontation, still 3 minutes too long but at least you got it resolved. I do hope your story is an eye opener to people, a bit of common sense and consideration goes a long way. I do also like the reverse psychology tactic, that must get some priceless expressions sometimes lol.
  9. It's a tricky one, I've been seated for many gigs but do I prefer to stand up when my favourite band are playing? Sure. I always go for GA tickets but I'm not always successful. Of course I'll always ask the people behind me if it's okay if I stand, I'd say 90% of my experiences have been positive. Got to be respectful to others though as like people have said, disabilities (or just personal preference) are sometimes not 'visible'.

    The tricky scenario is when the person behind you isn't keen on standing but the person in front of you stands up!
