Here's my try with only one adjustment after one year:

    3. Get Out Of Your Own Way
    4. California (there is no end to love)
    5. Song For Someone

    3. The Blackout
    4. California
    5. Crystal Ballroom
    6. Iris
    7. Book of Your Heart
    8. Landlady

    10. The Little Things That Give You Away

Every Breaking Wave would've most certainly made this list had the album version been more like the live version they played at those few 360 shows. Not a fan of the "finished" version, album or live. Too bombastic for me.

I hate to pat myself on the back but I love this list lmao. Going to make a playlist and listen later.

Wow, 3 vs 7... Someone's pissing in SOI's garden eh?
  7. Hahaha.

Honestly, when I first tried this, I thought to myself "okay cool, just pick your favourite 10 songs from both albums and see how they might fit together."

And I honestly had a hard time getting to 10

But today I tried again and they came to me, and it wasn't a purposeful thing, I ended up selecting songs that might fit better together vs what I liked more. I definitely like songs like Raised by Wolves, Where You Can Reach Me, but as I started selecting songs I realized there's a theme that runs through certain songs from each album, which is examining the concept of "love" in different ways. California might not necessarily fit there as it's probably the happiest song of the bunch, but it does fit thematically IMO.

But yeah, I definitely like SoE better than SoI, and a large part of that is due to the recordings. Too many songs on SoI sound way too crisp and "perfected", to the point where they almost sound plastic. Miracle is one of those, it's too perfect and not raw/rock enough in its production, for me anyway.

Could've put a ballad from SoI where Landlady is, but honestly, none of them are as good. Song for Someone is boring, EBW is meh for me (as I said), etc.
  8. It surprises me that no one has included Ordinary Love ( as it was a bonus from SOE) and is a great song too.
  9. The bonus of Ordinary Love on SOE, I would not call that a bonus, that mix was quit a punishment to listen, it ruins the original completely.
  10. I think this thread actually highlights how difficult it is for the band nowadays to bring out an album and release songs that are to the liking of most of there fans, everyone’s selections seem to differ quite a bit from one another. It seems we all want something slightly different from the band, which I guess we all know anyway but threads like this just highlight it.
