1. U2 played a POPMART gig at the massive Strahov Stadium.

It would be a GUY issue.
  3. We should have a little more patience...
  4. U2 Australia is reporting that a caller to the 3AW rumour files said the tour would be announced in 3 weeks. U2 Start is reporting that it will be announced very soon after the Saturday 18th of May Australian elections and that local Live nation staff have been made aware of the tour. They also mentioned that the tour is 100% ready to go at this point.

It would make sense that U2 would wait until after the election since it is currently taking up most of the media's attention here and will continue to do so until it is over.

Also an extremely positive sign that the news is coming from two different sources at the same time - should give some confidence to the naysayers that this tour is happening.
  5. Short notice!
  6. Personally can't see how elections would impact any tour announcement.
  7. I somewhat think the same but I can understand why U2/Live Nations might want to delay the announcement until after the election. The election is currently dominating the media's attention at the moment, if they announce it now they would probably get less attention focused on them compared to after the election. There seems to be no harm in waiting until after the election while doing it before carries the small risk of less media attention, so ultimately it makes sense to wait.

Hopefully that is the reasoning behind the delay, as it would indicate everything is all tied up and ready to go.

For some reason though I think it's the Asian gigs that are holding up the announcement. Everything for Aus and NZ seem to be set from the rumours so far, Asian gigs less so.

Yeah I agree with you that the original hold up was probably because of the Asian dates weren't locked down. That was probably the source of original announcement delay from April to May (Plus Metalica and Queen announcing probably made Live Nation/U2 want to delay the announcement). If everything is 100% ready now I would assume that the election is the only thing delaying it since there doesn't look like there will be another major tour announcement that would compete with U2 coming up.
