    Completely agree.
  2. Hi all! One thing about music is that I love a good live show. Here are my thoughts:

    Songs that have a chance:
Vertigo: Like elevation, this will be played on the next tour. Ignoring it will leave the younger crowd lost, like Joshua Tree fans during Zoo TV

Sometimes: Like Vertigo, it's a must have. One of their best off the album. When it's live, it's beautiful.
Love and Peace: It's one of Bono's preaching songs. Probably will alternate with Original of the Species.
COBL: Another must have. Possible lead in to Streets? Definitly needs to be kept toward the end of the show.
Original of the Species: If Bono loves it, it will stay. Probably will alternate with Love and Peace

Songs that don't or could be snipetted:
Miracle Drug: It will not because it's not strong enough (can't compete with other material. If anything, one of the songs of the pending album will be played and not this. Same goes for Crumbs
All Because of You: sadb7788 had the right idea about this one. This song would be awesome as a snippet.
A Man and A Woman: not a chance
Crumbs from Your Table: read Miracle Drug
One Step Closer: at best a snippet
Yahweh: it's a good song, but there are better in U2's catalogue

It really depends (on the new album). Will Bono continue to preach or realize it's about the music?
  3. Some nice thoughts. I really don't see LAPOE swapping with OOTS though. Very different moods in those songs. Different subject-matter too.

LAPOE may mean they can actually give Bullet a rest for the first time...

Which is a shame, since the solo in BTBS kills the solo in LAPOE.

  5. Vertigo and COBL clearly will continue. I think Original and Yahweh will pop up as occasional encores. I am clearly in the minority here, but I always had the feeling that Sometimes had its run on the Vertigo tour, but will be retired going forward. This is obviously just speculation, but I don't know how often Bono will want to sing it because of the subject. Kite was barely played on Vertigo. I know they plays all of his mother songs but that was decades ago. Just a guess. I'm probably wrong.
  6. I'd love to see LAPOE replace Bullet but I feel like LAPOE's only purpose was to get Larry out from behind the kit. And I'm thinking there will be a new song to do that for the next tour. And you know, Larry can't be away from his kit for that long!

Other songs I hope/think will make the next tour on a regular basis: COBL, SYCMOYO, maybe Yahweh, Vertigo

It wasn't the best, that is sure, but I DO hope it's revived for the next tour but given something different, a bit of a kick in the arse, so to speak and the solo in BTBS is more complex that LAPOE BUT I wouldn't be too sad if LAPOE was brought in for BTBS on a regular basis

    Right, my 10 pence worth;

Vertigo = I know there are a few who think this is overrated, but for me it's SO MUCH BETTER than Elevation for being up the setlist - it has that kickarse rock'n'roll feel and a bit of bite to it, whereas Elevation a) has been horribly overplayed for me, b) isn't the greatest song anyway and c) I've already said overplayed...
Miracle Drug = I love the song, but I a) don't think it is going to get playtime for every show and b) nor would I want it to - I think it's better as one of those songs that gets thrown in now and again to mix things up and give everyone a thrill.
SYCMIOYO* = I may side against a few people here, but to be honest I think this just doesn't come alive when played live. I love the album version and have utter respect for it both as a musical entity and because it's a tribute to Bob Hewson, BUT I really don't want to see this on every blasted show because I (unfortunately) get tired of hearing it on every Vertigo bootleg. IF it was given a makeover, i.e. Edge's guitar changed, because the tone just sounded too much like a sitar for me live (not that I have anything against sitars per se), then I may be a bit more forgiving BUT like I say - not the best thing I've ever listened to live.
LAPOE = for me, this is a gem and should get played at a fair majority of the shows because everyone seems to love it, the solo is molten and it has an energy that fits the live arena. I don't know if it will, but it should (in my view)
COBL = as long as they get it right most of the time, this can go on every show lol! I'm thinking a potential encore opener, because when they nail this live, it's incredible. However, when the guys don't, it seems to be a bit thin on the ground. Would definitely love seeing this on setlists when the tour finally comes around.
ABOY = nice rock'n'roll piece, although not quite like Vertigo for me. Random appearances everysoften for me, nothing much more.
AMAAW = erm, well, it's never been done live and I can't imagine it being brought back. It feels a bit like Party Girl to me, and perhaps that's its destiny should it ever get any playtime.
CFYT = mixed bag. Love the album version, but most of the live versions were either just not done that well and/or had something missing from it. If they get together a version that works live, I'm all for it getting some playtime.
    OSC = fat chance lol.
OOTS = great encore material for me. Prefer the orthodox piano version to the one they did for the Milan DVD, impressive as it was. Surprised me when it got played high up the setlist, seemed to take momentum out of a show in such instances.
Yahweh = apply the same idea again as above, save for the piano bit lol.
    Fast Cars = meh !

Ok, that's just my opinion and admittedly not a comprehensive lowdown on every song but hey - that's why we're part of this forum! (to poke fun at people, i.e. moi when they make a complete arse of themselves! )

*judging by notcomingdown's comments, I'm not the only one who thinks that SYCMIOYO should have seen its day in live form lol
  8. Vertigo: way better than Elevation and magic live.just listen 2 that riff! its gotta stay!
MIracle Drug: hmmm, dunno, was good on the last tour but i think in the natural run of things its time to say bye bye.
Sometimes You Can't Make It on your own: adíos.maybe played the odd time. id prefer kite though.
LOPOE: YES PLEASE!!! love this song live.maybe Bullet needs a break next tour?play this instead and give bullet a chance the odd night.
COBL: if they can play it well every night then im all for it. but the nights on the Vertigo where it didnt take off it was just crap.(and that was most nights unfortuneately)
    ABOY: slán
AMAAW: i hope so. my favourite song off HTDAAB.not gonna happen tho.
CFYT: not bothered and dont think it'll happen.
    OSP: same as Crumbs
OOTS: play it instead of Miss Sarajevo? its a great song and deserves 2 be played on the next tour even if its not in every night.
    Yahweh: meh, not pushed
  9. I think Vertigo and COBL should be there most of the shows, OOTS and SYCMIOYO should switch(?) every show. Miracle Drug and LAPOE could be played a few times but not more. The rest of the songs have a tiny chance.
  10. Ok, here's my thoughts.

VERTIGO: Will be a staple. Probably in the third / fourth slot, as with Elevation on the VT. Maybe even to close a couple shows.

City Of Blinding Lights: Doubt we'll see this one much, as we all know U2 doesn't like to open their shows with old material. And as far as I'm concerned, it's crap unless opening a show. Great song studio and live, but doesn't fit in the middle of a set. Maybe an encore opener?

Original Of The Species: Not too sure about this one. I wouldn't mind seeing this one occasionally, such as Kite on VT, but every night could get too boring.

Yahweh: I think this one will be in the set occasionally, sort of towards the middle of the set, much like Staring At The Sun or Stay during the Elevation Tour.

Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own: Unfortunately, this one will probably stay. Would much rather see Gone, or Kite in this slot.

All Because Of You: Yeah, they'll play this one....when hell freezes over.

    Fast Cars: Probably not.

A Man And A Woman: Much like Electrical Storm, will be soundchecked, but never performed.

Love and Peace Or Else: There's still some meat on this bone. Would love to see it as an encore opener. I know people want it to replace Bullet, but Bullet should stay...lol

Miracle Drug: Not likely considering it was dropped by the second or third leg...Boy do I wish though. I don't think they ever figured out how to play it live though.

Crumbs From Your Table: This one's in my top 10, so I might be biased. Very unlikely it will be played often, if at all. On my wish list though.

One Step Closer: Nope. And don't care to see it.
  11. I want Vertigo with a shitload of snippets next tour and I want COBL to lead into Streets - that would be the business! Love and Peace still has merit as does Miracle Drug (occasionally) and Yahweh. All the rest I'd like to see put back on the shelf. I don't think that's too much to ask
  12. Does any one else think SYCMIOYO could work on piano? It could be played like this by just Bono. Hell, throw in So Cruel and give him a little Piano set.(give Edge a simmilar slot playing songs by himself on acoustic guitar. I'd love to hear ASOH acoustic, and he can hit the high notes better that Bono nowadays.) Other than that I think ratating SBS, BTBS, POE, and LAPOE could work.
