Joshua Tree Tour 2019
Legs (1): New Zealand, Australia and Asia
Shows: 15
  1. +1

Unlike Europe & the US, it'll be dark before showtime, so there's a possibility of opening up straight into Streets & the JT. That's what I'm hoping for.

Although there’s always room to change there mind Edge has previously spoke about building towards streets, not just in relation to JT17 but in general. It was around about the time they were working out the Glastonbury Setlist. I think the days of Streets opening a set are gone.

Yeah, I'm hoping for the RBW & UTEOTW duo. Think the end of UTEOTW, with the waves crashing will look great on that screen.

But Edge is going to have to go all 'Pink' on us, suspended, hanging from wires, so giant Bono can hold him in his hand
  4. The only way streets first works is if the album isn't played in full or if they don't play in sequence

Yeah, Streets is definitely better with a build up, & deserves it. So many great segues into that song, the build up is just amazing.

But hey, I thought every single show needed Streets, but e+i did pretty well without it. I enjoyed the opening songs of JT30, & the build up to Streets (from behind my computer anyway). But I really thought the extended encore was lacking, & I know I'm not the only one. Sure they can totally change that 6-7 song encore, & probably will.

But I do think opening with the JT gives them more options later in the show. To highlight their newer stuff, play the hits, & maybe even a deep cut or two. I'm hoping that's what happens, but not expecting it in any way.
  6. Yeah, the full JT album in order is a struggle for the casuals, & having a few hits to get the crowd excited before the album starts probably helps with this. But I just like the possibilities of a 10 song run, plus encore, once the album is done. Particularly as this part of the world has missed out on both the arena tours. Plenty of highlights from there that could be moved to a stadium setting, & I'm not just talking about the new material.
  7. Guess we should move this over to the setlist discussion
  8. ABC radio in Sydney just announced the dates!
Might have jumped the gun a bit!
  9. DJ on the ABC radio Breakfast program confirmed on Twitter he was just speaking about the rumours on U2 fan sites when asked about it by twitter user @comfortme_U2 - the full intro to the piece was, "Speaking of fans, of musicians etc, if you’re a fan of this group (plays “Sweetest Thing”) might be a bit of good news for you. This has not been confirmed, but it’s up on the fan sites…”
  10. So it's now a confirmed rumour!

  11. Watch out as Red Zone tickets are usually the first to sell out. Not only because they're very limited (much more than GAs at least) but also because they're valuable, charity-oriented and bring good stuff for the price paid. They're "only" a bit more expensive than the top priced seats but a much better value!
  12. Who knows, we could be 10 hours away from an announcement. I expect it to be Friday though.
