That’s a theory but without any proof that’s all it is, it isn’t a reason but merely your belief and I don’t think it’s a very good theory at that. The band could have easily worked on things whether the Raleigh show happened or not, in fact the show could have been a good rehearsal in itself if they were really placing that much emphasis on the New York shows.

It's not a theory I read it in this book "U2 live" which is very factual and documents every tour up to Elevation apparently the band and crew had copies of it and used it to look back and remind themselves of past shows.

So it’s not your theory it’s the guy who wrote the books theory then. Whilst I’m sure there are a lot of facts in the book if there is something stated in it that goes against the official reason the gig was cancelled without proof then it is a theory. I’ll still chose to believe the screen issues were the problem which is the only reason that makes sense to me despite the reasons that have been suggested on here.
  3. Cancelling an already planned show with tickets having been sold is always much more expensive than playing to a half empty stadium, a promoter friend says, as it's off-days that are expensive, without generating income. That is, unless insurance pays the costs.
  4. Shots fired apparently.......
  5. I’ve got no issues with people’s differing opinion to my own. I think people are too quick to believe rumour or take theory as fact but that’s also my opinion so no harm done. Just thought I’d defend the official reason as to why the gig was cancelled. It’s all good.

So why didn't they reschedule the show if it was only the screen that was damaged?? they weren't that far into the tour and they came back for another US leg in the autumn so I'm not buying the "official "reason given.

Could it be the different agencies have different rights/strategies? Sydney is being sold through Ticketek while Auckland is Ticketmaster. That would be one explanation but I thought Live Nation would the decision maker.
Yeah, I'd think Ticketek is just selling tickets at whatever price the artist & promoter (LN) want. So I wouldn't think there'd be a difference. But who knows.
  8. My theory is they could end up closing the entire back section and put everyone in the main stands. Thoughts??

They didn’t reschedule the show because of poor ticket sales. The decisions for cancelling a show and the decisions for not rescheduling it don’t have to be the same.
  10. As someone with a ticket in the back section, that is a scenario I've considered. There would still be a crowd in front of the stage but those far seats are often barely visible to performers at night and with lights in their faces, so they wouldn't see the emptiness.
  11. When you think of it, kinda makes sense. For the 2nd night in 360 they roped out one full back section across all rows behind the claw and the same at the far end of the stadium

In this case it was.plus the need to rehearse for the New York gigs.
