I know a huge record store in downtown Chicago just recently closed, because they were not getting enough sales.

Only if you read the media. The media (mainly the New York Times, Chicago Times and News Limited) all have shares in Apple, and consequently, iTunes. So they're going to tell you the CD stores are going out of business, when in fact, they aren't to get more money and get the shares up in pricing). I applaud Steve Jobs and Apple for their effort to reduce piracy, but still, at the prices they're asking, people will still download illegally - and not introducing their services in other places like Australia for movies, video rentals etc.

But CD sales are declining by 1000% a year at least, and unfortunately, some places just can't compete when they're doing business for more than what the online services offer.

It's not a bad shot. Not one of the best Vertigo shots, but still decent enough and uses the same recording from the bootlegs here (though not an MP3 rip).

Yeah, that part of it is a bummer.

Back when I was working, I was burning DVDs from iwillfollowu2.com and trading quite regularly, but never got that one. I've slowed down now that I'd have to buy the DVD-Rs myself.

Oh, and I found out that they want their iMac back.

I've found lots of places in town where they stock obscure stuff, but not in the big stores. I found a Mysterious Ways single with five remixes and I picked up a Beautiful Day single with Summer Rain and Always on it, in one store with Gone Live From Mexico video on it pretty cheap.

Not that I ever figured out how to watch the video. I just find a lot of the music nowadays to be boring and overrated for what it is.

Are you able to keep it if you pay them back or not, but then I guess they'd want a lot for it.

    They're expensive too.

Very interesting. I didn't know that about Apple. Thanks for sharing. Yeah, CDs are really expensive. I heard Wal-Mart wanted all of the major labels to cut their prices of CDs for like $10 a piece or something or else they would not continue to sell those labels in their stores. They say that if CDs are cheaper, more people would buy them, which is entirely true. I spent like $33 this weekend on 2 CDs- it's rediculous!
  6. Welp, I'm going to bed; too late here!.
Attending a lecture tomorrow for extra credit on the history and fashion of grunge rock should be pretty interesting. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.
    See ya'll later!:

    EDIT

They apparently want $950 for it, which, since I have no job, is too much for me. I'll use the PC laptop for now.

Yeah, I started buying from half.com or ebay. You can get older stuff for a couple of bucks, and even the newer stuff for about 10 bucks usually. Not sure about rarer items....

    Later, Maura!
  9. Oh yeah. They're a big company. The executives and labels won't allow it (CDs to be cheaper) because it loses them money. If CDs were $10 a piece, I'd have one every week, rather than one every month, and being cheaper would gain more sales. And they wanted to go after bootleggers (those who trade and upload for free) as well to get more sales.

A recent article published by Apple showed they surpassed Wal-Mart in sales. That big.

$950? I thought like $2000. Just gonna let it go if you have to, or is it a free return?

Not quite sure what you mean here....
  11. Well, i'm outta here....
  12. And I'm on...hello all Beautiful day ahead of me...the local derby is played here between the reds and the blues. The Dutch online here probably know where I'm talking about. There are even 4 Liverpool-fans here to support my team (the reds..called IJsselmeervogels). I spoke to them yesterday in the pub, nice folks!
