I looked at pearl jam and they give you a limited edition item plus an MP3 concert or $10 off any other digital format. I’m assuming that’s one after every renewal. Plus the other benefits with tickets etc.
If it’s anything like Livemetallica.com all their shows are available to purchase. Just create an account and you can buy them. Either mp3, cd or flac. I wish U2.com or whoever is in charge of what gets put on U2.com would do that

I believe U2 will do this when the band ends. And when Guy Oseary to be away from u2.
  3. I have official downloads of shows I attended for Blondie, Counting Crows and Springsteen, all released within a few weeks of the gig and they are all fabulous reminders of my experience. U2 won't do this until they learn from these bands and embrace the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi - where beauty is found in the imperfection.

For example, in the Counting Crows one, they have to restart two different songs because Adam screwed up the intro. They didn't refuse to release that show, or overdub it; they accepted what happened and the recording is an authentic reminder of the show I watched.

As the bootleg recordings on this site attest, U2 makes mistakes during shows; they just need to accept that they do and let fans have access to real recordings, not santised and perfected imitations or cherry-picked highs. That's what the fans want and deserve from a subscription. And as these other bands have shown, the downloads don't need to be free.
  4. It’s funny because with the songs of innocence and experience live set I was glad they edited stuff and I’m generally glad they edit stuff because they only release 1 or 2 live things a tour between cd’s and DVD’s and we’re only getting one or two official live versions of certain songs. However if they released everything it would be fine, I wouldn’t mind if they messed up a song because I could hear it again in as great quality on another show. There would be pro’s and cons to each show which is fine.

I think it's difficult for a band like U2 to offer old recordings where they are better than their current performance!
maybe they will do it when they realize that their career is over!
  6. I'm guessing someone here or at U2 Songs or U2 News has contacts....what if we all got a petition together?

I'd happily pay for show audio. Especially shows I've been to.

  7. That's harsh and also untrue. You can argue the point that their career peaked and they aren't as good or having as much success as they had in the past; but they are still making music so their career isn't over yet, Nor or they at a point where they have become a parody of themselves and should call it a day. They still have ideas to offer and are still pushing the boundaries in terms of stage design.
  8. I doubt they'd care about a petition for this.

They edit the live releases a lot. The intro to Little Things on the last subscriber gift is from a completely different show. Just getting one release per tour takes a lot of time...

I didn't say that their career is over!

And for me that detracts from the performance. Sure, it sounds great, but it's not real. Nobody heard that specific version,it's some kind of cyborg compilation.
