    Well, you say count the pills, it's more ticking off orders, sweeping floors and making coffee....but yeah in a roundabout way!

    For those interested... I've made loads of updates to my new and (hopefully) improved U2 stage and studio site.

    By the way, you could tell us which guitar is used for each song...or was, as it changes form time to time on live performances. And I really wanted to know what guitar was used to record the studio verion of Little While...there's a Edge track and a Lanois track I believe...

    Fixed my error. Good catch.

    Which guitar used for what song is harder than it sounds.
    A) We weren't there. But if you want to know about a particular song - I can let you know what I have found per interviews and such.
    B) Most songs have more thatn one guitar track and hence more than one guitar on the song.
    C) Live is a bit easier to denote, as there are videos to look at to verify. SO if you want to know what guitar was used on what song on a particular tour - that is easier to say.

    As for "In A Little While" (studio version) -- This from Guitar Player magazine // Jan 2001:
    GP: How did you get the lovely clean tones in "Stuck in A Moment" and "In a Little While"?

    Edge: I have a great '50s Strat, and I plugged it straight into a Bassman. On this record, I often found myself simply enjoying the pure tone of the instrument. Again, that's kind of new for me.

    SO basically, it's the natural finish Strat that Edge used for "Stuck In A Moment...". Dallas told me that guitar was used for many recordings of classic U2 songs, and that Edge had promised to never take it on tour... but as Stuck In A Moment needed THAT sound of THAT guitar... Edge did take it out on the Elevation tour. Legend also has it that it was another finish and that finish was removed to it's, now, natural finish look.

    GP: You play guitar on six cuts. How did your guitar playing work into the scenario of the new album?

    Lanois: Usually, if I'm playing, it's because we need another guitar and The Edge is busy playing another part. For example, I'll play an acoustic guitar while we're laying down basics, rather than having Edge overdub the part later. Again, doing it that way makes for more of an exchange between the musicians.

    GP: So in some instances, you cut basics with the band?

    Lanois: Yes, and so does [Brian] Eno. There's something magical when we all play together. The track "New York" is a good example. The band was upstairs having a meeting, and Eno came up with what I call the "tug boat" sound in the beginning. I worked up some chords, the band came down and added parts, and that was it. "Stuck In A Moment" is a another good example. That tune is essentially a live performance with the six of us. I'm playing harmony to The Edge's part.

You can't quite tell if it's acoustic or electric -- a very lovely sound..."

    And about the songs, you could put it like a trivia, just on the songs you are sure that a certain guitar was used...like 19xx - Fender Stratocaster - used on Bloody Sunday on ....tour and on.... in the studio. Just a suggestion.

  10. I found it random he used the guitar he did for the Vertigo video and for the cover of Guitar World, to my knowledge he hasn't used it.

    The 1972 Fender Telecaster Custom was in favor for a bit. The Edge used it at the 46664 show > The Vertigo video and early promo pics.

    The 1972 Telecaster Custom was later over-shadowed by the 1966 Lake Placid Blue Telecaster that The Edge used for the promo shows. (ie: Brooklyn Bridge show)

    The Lake Placid Blue Tele was later dropped for the cream finish 1966 Telecaster.
