1. hehe, my parents and sister think I'm a little mad too because I hold so tight to U2.
My mother likes classic music, my father rock and classic and my sister almost everything except popmusic (with a c )

well maybe it's true... the only artists on my Ipod are

    U2
    Bruce Springsteen

    so...

My father brought me into U2, he always played Rattle And Hum on tape in the car when we were underway. The rest I discovered myself

I think thats a great way to put it . Some band make good music, but don't change the listener. I think U2 can provide value to the listener, in similair ways to a religion, they promote values, offer guidances and even get you through troublsome times.
  3. that might also because of the subjects of songs of U2. If you listen to i.e. The Stones or Led Zeppelin (and then reversed ) it gives another impulse to the listener.

yeah, people can relate to bands that include political, current affairs and personal experiances in songs. This compared to some forms of Metal music, which may promote negative values
  5. My dad likes U2! It's thanks to him I started to listen to him!
But he's not a maniac like me He mostly just listens to the JT album, it that one he likes best. And he hates Pop and Zooropa
But my mom don't like them (or, she thinks Edge looks cute). But she doesn't listen much to music either... How can someone live with that? No music...

My parents don't listen to U2, so they don't really like or dislike them. But they have a great respect for my U2 love, which I'm truly grateful for. My brother listens to them every once in a while, and he thinks of them as one of the biggest rock bands in the world - what more could I ask for
  7. My dad said Bono only helped with fighting AIDS and poverty for his image..,

So I told him bugger off now I'm grounded
  8. I'm the only really big fan around in the family. Mum spends her time listening to Christian worshippy type stuff that I often find tedious; Dad doesn't mind them but doesn't really have a favourite band at all, just listens to whatever takes his fancy at the time - apart from this one folky type band who I can't stand called Three Peace Sweet. The really crappy thing is that they did a cover of ISHFWILF and he prefers it to the original because of this irritating violin part and general folk arrangement. I personally think it's shit, as is the rest of their stuff, but hey ho - I'm not averse to folk rock music, I'm pretty diverse about musical taste BUT argh, I can't stand Three Peace Sweet lol...

To be fair to Dad, he does like some of the stuff they did in the 80s when he actually noticed some of their music c. JT - he asked if he could borrow a CD and I leant him the 80s/90s Best of, and have left it in the player in his Land Rover so that he might actually listen to it when I'm not in the car with him lol...and then there's my bro, who's weird. He spends most of his listening to metal etc., not to mention playing it on the guitar at an excessively loud volume, but then asked if he could borrow some U2 stuff to put on his iTunes when he heard me listening to the album version of Gone. He thought it was live lol...but yeah, he's never actually borrowed anything that I know of, so I dunno where that one will go...
  9. My mom went to a 81' Boston show, and the TUF Providence show And my Aunt loves U2 as well

lol ouch!.....guessing you didn't say "bugger"

i love talking to people who have seen early U2 gigs

fortunately i know a few of them
  11. My mom and dad saw U2 in Sweden 1987 but I acctually haven't asked them mch about that
