I think Love is bigger is going to offer something spectacular in the live environment, I know people might not know it that well but I think it’s just going to be something special. 13 will be the come down at the end of that, just to calm us all down a bit. I understand you might see it differently but I like new stuff it’s what makes each tour different, even though I rate American soul as the weakest in the current Setlist I’ll still prefer it to I will Follow, pride and one since it’s something different.
That's what I think about ABOY. At least it's something different. I'd much prefer Red flag day or Summer of love to American soul though.

Exactly, ABOY is probably my 2nd least favourite song in the Setlist but again it will be more enjoyable on the night to some of the regulars since I’ve not heard it too much. I agree RFD or summer Of Love would be better than American soul, but hey we can’t have it all.

But there's a general consensus that don't want to leave a gig thinking, "is that it? Is it actually finished?" Because they've finished on a morbid number.

New material generally makes every tour different, because U2 always tour a new album, ergo the set is gonna be different. But they've always got it right, eventually, to structure the set effectively. I know the tour hasn't even kicked off yet and they could provide us with something a bit different come the end of the week, but it looks stale. I'll welcome All Because of You, but this "it's something a bit different" just doesn't sit well with me, because is it really different? Is it?

Yea people singing” how long” long after the band leaves the stage is not exciting. Doesn’t necessarily have to be a fast song to close, but if you go the route of mid-slow tempo it’s gotta be a sing along. An album sequence is diff than live. What works as an album opener/ closer doesn’t necessarily work at a live show.

The general consensus should have experience of u2 ending with these types of numbers with moment of surrender, Love is Blindness and wake up dead man, all songs that are far from catchy upbeat numbers. I can’t really argue if you think the Setlist looks stale, I don’t see it that way but if you’ve got concerns in general with the Setlist that would impact your overall view of it. I think ABOY is something different, it’s not been played on any tour other than it’s own albums and that was a while ago, that’s why I define it as different.
  6. All Because of You = far inferior Vertigo. An antonym of different.
  7. If ABOY had been played as often as vertigo it would be a fair comparison. I’m not saying the songs that different or that great even but it offers something different to the Setlist as it’s not been in one for quite some time.

It's completely irrelevant if ABOY had been played as much as Vertigo. I'm talking about how they sound, they both have the same standard rock tune vibe about them, it's just a Vertigo with less vigour. And they're both in the same set, and it's a bang average song. That's why I'm saying it's nothing different. It's hardly distinct just because it's not been in a U2 set in a while.

I’m not saying the song is distinct in its style I’m saying that the fact it’s making the Setlist is something different, I’m not talking about the songs originality but how it adds something new in relation to most other tours besides the vertigo tour.

I'm sorry, that just doesn't make any sense to me.
  11. ABOY is a song, it might be similar to other songs but it is a song in its own right. This song has not been in a Setlist since the vertigo tour. If it is played on E&I then that adds a new ‘different’ song to the set when compared with most other tours, as a comparison playing elevation wouldn’t be considered something different.

"ABOY is a song" – yes, thanks for the condescension.

It's as simple as that, but it's still pointless to mention the fact that it's "different" because it hasn't been played since Vertigo Tour. How pedantic.
