  1. there is so much potential for other songs, im just saying
  2. The band has said they want to play older songs they've never done. Are they doing that?
Yeah. Again, let's not speak too soon because we've still got another few days to go. Invariably the last week is where a show struggles the most. It wrestles with you the most. Yes, they've certainly rehearsed things they've never done before, which is really exciting.

    That is... not encouraging
  3. The problem is the reaction the overplayed stuff gets. As someone who used to be in a band I can say it always feels good to play to the crowd to an extent. I was in fact in two bands one who did parties, weddings etc and one where we did our own stuff. When it came to rehearsing I preferred doing our own stuff by a mile but when it came to gig night playing in the wedding and parties band was by far the better experience. Songs that are well known and probably even well liked such as the Fly, discotheque and zoo station will never get the crowd going the same way elevation, beautiful day and vertigo. Inside we might all be loving it but the crowd really interact with the latter trio. It’s not what I go to a gig for as a fan, but as a band member I could get it.
  4. Willie trying to claim JT30 as part of a trilogy to bridge between SOI and SOE is utter bollocks.
  5. What if Bono brings out his 1992 voice?
  6. Yeah I agree, that's just ridiculous
  7. I've been keeping away from this topic but came across the Willie Williams article, the comment about TJT being part of a trilogy is complete rubbish. Really disappointing. Not everyone will have had the chance to make it to the TJT 30 shows. I know I keep banging on about Streets not being rehearsed but I just think the mindset is all wrong there.

I think (and kinda hope) they get a fair bit of criticism from the critics for not including anything from TJT. Imagine going to your first show (I'm sure many will be) and not hearing their most iconic live song?
  8. In fairness, though, he did acknowledge that this was not the original plan - looking back, though, he "smiles" at the fact that it somehow ended up working out this way.

I think it's actually a cool way to look at it - and one that's been discussed here on the forum before - but I think it would be a whole lot more compelling if they played more SOE (and less SOI)...and if they actually focused more on "experience" songs, aka 90s material, especially Pop.
