Exactly I'd much rather it was much more like 2015 - does anyone know if they decide the sets together?? I guess they must do but I can imagine Bono getting stroppy about doing whatever he wants to do...

I realise that U2 have entered a very different plateaux these days and don't want to stray far away from what they have polished. It negates a lot of freedom though. We know they are perfectionists but once in a while it would be just brilliant to see them throw in songs we would never think we would ever hear again.
  3. We're getting 2 radically different setlists, I don't see how folks can complain that much. We got the entire JT album last year and we're getting zero JT songs this year. There are only 6 or 7 songs that carry over between the 2 concerts. This is probably the biggest setlist change in U2 history.

But it's daft to not play any JT songs but persist with BD, Elevation and One

They choreograph the setlist for the visuals which is to be expected. There is a lot going on in the background but these screens can be turned off to allow just a few long unheard songs to permeate the set on occasion. Not every night but once in a while.
Imagine hearing Drowning Man, Dirty Day, A Day Without Me, Stay, The Unforgettable Fire pop up.
  6. Imagine hearing Red Hill Mining Town or Acrobat.
Or even just In God's Country or One Tree Hill. I'll bet Exit would be cool.

Oh wait, we have heard those. All of those. In the past 12 months.

Oh wait we also heard One, Pride, Beautiful Day, I Will Follow, Sunday Bloody Sunday, You're The Best Thing About Me and New Year's Day in the last year.... and most of them in the last 30 years so what would be the problem with Exit or In God's Country or One Tree Hill??
  8. 11 O'Clock Tick Tock in Manchester would be cool, wasn't it recorded at Strawberry Studios there with Martin Hamnett? I remember Bono telling the story during the 1st Elevation show at the MEN as it was called in 2001,about going through the record collection while in the studio and seeing the Sinatra albums in there,.

Going on the premise that the songs you mention have been played in the context of the Joshua Tree anniversary tour then they were constant every night. Absolutely brilliant to hear them. Wonderful experience to see these songs come out to play from when I first heard them on the original tour.
A little rotation of other well loved songs from their history would bring a different dynamic to future shows in place of well-trodden stalwarts like Elevation for example.
Not every night, but on occasion.

Yes! You are correct with everything you mentioned in that post.
I too would love to hear 11 O' Clock when I go to see them at the Manchester gigs.
  11. Don't want to disturb anyones dream, but the printed setlist for Berlin 2 was exactly the same as Berlin 1...

Personally I would be overjoyed if Cologne 1 has just this Berlin 1&2 setlist. Not for the variation, but just to know that Bono is alright...
  12. I don't want any rotation. I'm going to one show, like the majority of people. I'm glad they worked RFD and SOL into the set, I hope they stay every night as they are songs I want to hear from the new records.
