The non announcement has even our tight sources like u2Songs and Remy here completely thrown by it and they have been all over every detail about this tour for months now , its a worry , a REAL worry!
I was going to your earlier post about relevance. I totally agree with you that U2's modern music had become irrelevant in today's pop culture. Not just in Australia, but in the US, & elsewhere. If they toured IE/EI in arenas Oceania/Asia, it may (or may not) have struggled to sell out in this part of the world.

But I have faith that a stadium tour showcasing the Joshua Tree will be a financial success. 360 was a success on the back of a commercially weak album (no doubt helped by the CLAW). There are plenty of older fans, who grew up following U2. Many of these fans, in their 40's & 50's, now have much higher disposable incomes! After an 9 year absence, I could have seen many of these fans going to IE/EI, I'm sure they'll love to relive the Joshua Tree.

As to your other point. I'm sure not all of U2Songs sources have gone quiet. I'm sure they had some idea what was (not) happening today But to their credit, as they've always shown to be, they are very conservative & don't release every little word they hear. Hell, even I had heard whisperings before it became obvious there would be no announcement, & I don't have any sources anymore.

Curious to know how much sponsorship could be, & how much financial impact it could have on a tour. 360 must have had the highest sponsorship, as it was actually named after a product. Generally, I wouldn't have though sponsorship would have that much impact, as I can't see a sponsor paying too much money. I can't for one remember who the main sponsors were for these other tours..... That's right, salesforce, I'll admit I did look them up afterwards. No idea for JT30 though.
  3. Maybe they've had a change of heart.

    Bring on the Lovetown30 tour!
  4. There’s still time to announce today, it’s not 6-9am in Europe yet
  5. It's Monday in Pennsylvania.
  6. Too bad it’s 3:30pm in Sydney haha No announcement today.
  7. :/
  8. This is very strange and almost incredible. I don’t think funding and sponsors can be a reason. I mean: if a tour has been organized and if announcement is very close, for sure the sponsors and funding have already been finalized and decided time ago. I don’t think live nation does these things at the very last moment. There should be other reasons. This is very strange.
  9. U2SONGS reports that, according to some radio stations, the announcement may be not until next week...

Although appearing to be planned for Monday May 20, it appears that the announcement has now been pushed back and some radio stations in Australia suggest it will be next week instead.
  10. Sponsorship funding? Asian date problem? WTF? Do anyone remember that “100% ready to go” BS !?
  11. I'd like to say what's another week after 6 months of anticipation but this is getting stressful.
