ok here is what I remember from reading U2: At the End of The World by Flannagan.

Bill comments on the book that Bono before the show was getting together Macphisto's speech for the night along with Paul M (manager) and he wrote a very much more rude speech that was transfered to the teleprompter. Bono came up with some very serious and "Macphistolish" comments, some of them VERYVERY rude.... among them I remember these (I'll catch the book when I get home and post the comments):

Squeegie: Princess Diana (Prince Charles used to call her like that) and that's why I hope they give you Whales.
comment to Rushdie: Decibels??? Bono changed his mind while he was reading and that's what he came up with...... he had written something about death and the fact that he had a price on his head.
Sinatra: MTV demgrafic?? also same as Rushdie, he changed his mind while reading, he wrote something about the mob and Sinatra been the Capone of the 90's or something like that...
Michael: He is referring about Michael Jackson... word on those days was about he been involved with Child molestation, etc. etc. etc. There was also a rumour that Michael was getting some sort of surgery on his "masculine member" if you know what I mean... it was all over the tabloids. So Bono wrote something regarding that. and again he chickened out on the last second....

anyways, some of the comments where very rude, and I think that it would've been WAY TOO much to say to the whole world, even if dressed as Macphisto....
