My two-year-old 4th gen is in six pieces, currently. It's waiting to be put back together - a lot of bloody work to get it back together and working again, as it just stopped working one afternoon.

I decided to get another 4th gen - as long as it has 20GB and can play MP3s I'm happy. I think the whole iTunes has been getting worse since after version 6.0. I use Media Player because it works better with Windows.

I think apple are againg conspriring against us all. Ipods and itunes not performing well with Windows. Which means that if we want our ipods to work properly we are gna need a Mac which fills up Apples pockets even more. They need to get sorted
  3. I'm gna re-burn a few albums as lossless and try them on the ipod. The difference (if any) will be small through ear phones but at least i'll know that its the best it can possibly be. I'll let you know if its any better
  4. Bugger the iPods, I'm going a Microsoft Zune. If they ever come to Australia.

DON'T! I know I'm a biased apple fan, but I'm serious. My best friend has one, and it's battery fried about 3 times.

Is there a player which is reliable besides an iPod? Maybe a Creative then?

The 360s overheat as well, so they're dying too - mainly because the heatsink is too large for the motherboard to handle (at 65Nm I think it is). Not good for Microsoft at all.

I used to have a sansa. It was very reliable. I never had any trouble with it.

  10. Back to the post earlier that Gerard wrote, I think maybe the APU (audio processing unit) has been changed from the other models to something really bad, and this is why the sound sucks.

Apparently, even the Apple fans are pissed right off. As you would be. I have a feeling this is why the classic sells a lot cheaper - because the 5.5G versions are still $379 here compared to $349 for this new one.
