Make sure you have the latest software when you get the touch - 2.0 is very slow and so is anything before 2.1. I use 2.1. For the record, I have 4.5GB music, encoded in MP3 on the 16GB - plenty of room left. Apparently the 2nd generation touch is getting close to being cracked for customisation.

2.2 made a huge difference to the stabiility of the wi-fi and the browser/e-mail in general. I do both no probs and my wi-fi signal isn't that great and broadband is less than 2MBPS.
Get the 2nd Gen Ger, subtle improvements like the volume key well worth it.
