  2. It's funny how as soon as I posted that..I had the feeling the iPhone would somehow come out as top priority. Sadly, it did. : /

    But on a brighter note, my good friend has AT&T and offered me to use her SIM to 'activate' the iPhone. Unsure if it will work, all I need to get to is pass that screen, which probably only scares people off or coaxes them into getting AT&T. Long story short, I should have an iPhone either by the end of this week or the next. 8)

    figured out what it was: the gdata firewall! turned it off and the windows wall on, now it's purring like a kitten again what's annoying though: the gdata programme only lets me turn the wall off until the next boot, so every day I have to change the adjustments again. oh well, there could be worse, I guess.

  5. So apparently The Man is out to get me once more. Iphone no contract? 599 and 699 for their respective models. eBay and craigslist just became my best friends now.

  6. I'm having some problems with my desktop. Everyday the sound icon dissapears, I go to control panel and check the box to put it on the bar at the bottom, and it reappears. Next time I turn it off te box gets unchecked. Anyone know why?

    To resolve this issue, extract a new copy of Sndvol32.exe from the Windows XP compact disc to the system_root\System32 folder on your computer's hard disk. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key as you insert the CD-ROM to prevent it from starting automatically.
    2. Click Start, and then click Run.
    3. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
    4. Type the following lines at the command prompt, pressing ENTER after each line, where CD-ROM drive is the drive letter of the computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive that contains the Windows XP CD-ROM, and system_root is the path and folder name where the Windows system files are located (generally C:\Windows):
    CD-ROM drive:
    cd i386
    expand sndvol32.ex_ system_root\system32\sndvol32.exe


    Note that there is a space between "ex_" and "system_root" in this command.

    For example, if your computer's CD-ROM drive is drive E, and the folder that contains the Windows system files is C:\Windows, type the following lines at the command prompt (pressing ENTER after each line):
    e:
    cd i386
    expand sndvol32.ex_ c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe
    5. Type exit to quit the command prompt.
    6. Verify that you can start Volume Control and that the Volume icon is displayed in the notification area (if you selected this option).



    What Windows you running? That's for XP as you can tell so if you've got Vista then it mightn't work. Did it recently start happening or been doing it from the start?

    Hmmmm...never been too confident after having a look-see at Craigslist. Is it US-only?

  9. Anyone running the new Ubuntu release?

    I have foobar2000 running now using WINE (only coverflow is not working ) and i still have some stability issues. My TV card drivers are not installed by default, have to compile etc and after an hour the complete system crashed with no reason at all. I expect buggy videocard drivers

    Have imported my winvista Firefox profile without problems though and it feel snappy.

    But i doubt i am able to use ubuntu daily

    I went there after a pretty long time, listened to 30 songs and the page said my free trial had expired. "Subscribe for 3€/month to use your personalised radio". Fuck off.
