1. oops...wrong topic...

in the meantime, anyone know about the release of the new iphone yet?

  2. yea. It will be specced like a phone from 2007

  3. Lol, I hope so. I was planning on getting a Pre, unless the iPhone 3 trumps it in spec.
  4. Finally getting my ipod replaced tuesday.
  5. Also for Foobar if you want a good status bar with lots of useful info:

    Encoded with $info(tool) | %codec% %bitrate%kbps '('%codec_profile% $info(encoding)')' | %samplerate%Hz %channels%

The iPhone 3.0 OS and new models are meant to have the following:

    - Copy and Paste
    - Search
    - Landscape keyboard
    - MMS / Multimedia messaging
    - CalDAV and .ics support for Calendars
    - Bluetooth
    - Shake to shuffle
    - Voice recording
    - Turn by turn directions
    - Push notifications (annoying)
    - Buy additional content in games (helps you spend more!)
    - Encrypt your backups in iTunes
    - Possible video editing and recording
    - Faster processor (633MHz) and double memory (256MB)
    - 15 to 20% more battery life (about time)
    - Different icons (but they're ugly)
    - Anti-phising and auto-login for Safari
    - Subscribe to RSS feeds and podcasts in web pages
    - Automatically connect and authenticate Wi-Fi points like McDonalds, Starbucks etc
    - LocateMe for Location Services and GPS service
    - Compass feature
    - CPU utilisation features
    - No option to change wallpaper (what???)
    - Still can't hide useless apps (Stocks, Weather etc)
    - Generally faster than previous firmwares and even 2.2x
    - New look to App Store
    - Variable seek on iPod app
    - No option to turn off sideway o'meter or adjust it
    - Change lockscreen song title size

    - Possible 3.2 megapixel camera
    - New configurations of 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB
    - Larger screen with smaller home button
    - FM radio transmitter

About a 250MB download and might be here as early as tomorrow morning.

Hey Ryan, what kinda iPod you got?

120 gb, video classic. Great ipod but the hard drive is broken/defective. Apple has a pretty sweet customer service-I just go in around tuesday to swap it.

If they've got it in stock, then it's pretty quick and easy. If not....

I've got one of the classics, and it's not bad - but 80GB - I haven't filled up even 6GB of it yet.

  8. I also just did a count today and only have 6 gigs of music, I have no idea how people fill up 80 gig ipods with just music (let alone listen to that much music)

It's very hard to argue with such people on the merits of u2 as well.

    Mine's full, with just music.

And I know you don't find me hard to argue with on the merits of U2....
  10. Video, lossless and lots of terrible music they can't possibly like. I'm a bit like that myself. I'll bet you anything they haven't even listened to half of the music and leave their computer running overnight on torrents, RapidShare, Usenet and Limewire (even though any half-smart person wouldn't use Limewire).

It would be like this to me: ''You surely couldn't like Chinese Democracy, October, Thriller, hair metal and Bon Jovi's Greatest Hits?''

Anyway, on my iPod it says:

    Songs - 897
    Videos - 2
    Photos - 201
    Capacity - 14.6GB
    Available - 8.4GB

So 1GB goes towards the OS and the jailbroken stuff (though half of it is redundant and useless!) and 5GB goes to music. I have a terrible habit of getting Greatest Hits collections.

And you've listened to all that? Wow. I have so many other albums I've been given, yet I haven't bothered to listen to half of them.
  11. on my iPod Touch it says:

    Songs - 725
    Videos - 2 (Monty Python! )
Photos - 61 (my favourites from U2start's photo secction)
    Capacity - 7,0 GB
    Available - 2,5 GB
