    Windows gets a lot. Mainly Maps though. Nokia invested over $10 billion in Ovi Maps over the past 5 years and have just handed it to Microsoft.

    Something will need to plug the gap in market share left by Symbian but I dare say all of it will go to Android. iOS won't expand much further and WP7 will see a bump.

    Who knows though but it looks like the N8 will be my last Nokia device. But I don't like Android either. Not much choice for me.

    Read reports about Nokia might switch to Android for the lower-end on the long run and dump Symbian and use MeeGo as a platform for testing. You're right, the market share will go to Android. Symbian is dying slowly, a shame because v3 made a good comeback.

    Good point about Ovi Maps, Microsoft just became a bigger competitor for Google Maps. Something they always wanted. And Nokia helped them.
  3. Elop confirmed that Android is a no go. Meego will be what the N900 was which is a crying shame. Android and iOS proved that platforms can come from nowhere to market leaders in very little time if the execution is correct.

    Symbian was shrinking but Nokia have killed off their highest market share OS and replaced it with the lowest market share OS.

    It's gonna be a year at least before we see a device too. Just give me PR 2.0 for my N8 before it kicks the bucket.

  5. The OEMS mainly. They all got lazy and just throw Android into sub par hardware to increase profitability. It's resource heavy and the battery life rarely impresses. Updates aren't guaranteed by the manufacturer and will take months to be released if they do.

    I also just didn't get what all the fuss was about when I was using it either.

    I agree about the updates. Still on Froyo while Android 2.4 is almost coming. HTC needs to implement 2.3 for Sense. If they're done they can immediately start with 2.4..

    The battery life is indeed an issue, but I don't know if it is related to the OS.

    I used Symbian S60 and Android just works a lot smoother with no crashes or freezings at all. Symbian annoyed the hell out of me. But now Nokia has bowed for WP7, the OEMS will remain using third party operating systems. Only Apple lasts. Whether we like it or not, the mobile world is dominated by Apple, Google and Microsoft. And today's news just made that even more clear.
  7. Samsung still have their own Bada OS so kudos to them. They also do the best screens in the business. All their phones look the same though.

    I'm dreading the search for a new phone when the time comes. It will go a little like ''which Android slab do I want? iPhone hell no and no thanks to limited WP7''. I'll buy a Nokia E72 I bet.

    What do you actually want then? I don't care if my phone looks like other models. It's about the user experience in the end. With Nokia doing WP7, you won't have much choice left in the future.

    iPhone isn't worth it. The development was good at first but it seems to have stopped completely.

    I'm going Symbian in the future. Bada was a pain in the arse and Android I don't seem to be enthused as with anymore. Yeah it'll be great for modding and tweaking but not much else.
  10. Quite happy with this one. Don't think any other camera phone could have captured anything usable in weak moonlight. Obv lots of noise etc but quite nice none the less
