1. Genaro, you can look for a good chair to wait for the new album. 2015 at soonest.
  2. Alex, I guessed that too before theclip was released. Small clips of documentary, interviews, xylobands, tour production etc. mixed with live footage. Still dislike it!!! That would be nice for a bonus DVD, and then a full concert as the main DVD.

  3. I agree.

The short setlist makes me think they wanted to somehow release it like a feature film, like that Beiber film or something like that. If they wanted to make it a documentary, you don't need 16 tracks. If they wanted to make it a concert film, you need a full setlist. It's like they tried doing both (I say over a month before it's actually released).

LOL Sergio I totally come off as bitter in that but I didn't mean it to xD I PROBABLY WILL INVEST IN A GOOD CHAIR AND WAIT IT OUT mwuahaha!

Yeah the mishmash of everything is a terrible idea, it would work for a feature length film, but not for a tour dvd... shoulda continued the Live 2003 formula (one of the best live DVD's ever imo)
  5. don't know if you all have seen this yet, but this is the video that will be on the DVD that you have to download an Android app for. I have mixed opinions on it. I like how it looks, but I'm not a fan of the splashes of color and handwritten words written across the screen...

  6. Well this pretty much confirms my initial prediction that they are intending on making it more like a "feature film" as opposed to a proper concert DVD. If that's what they want to do, then this does well to serve that purpose. My only concern is...

They can do so much better!!!
They aren't Taylor Swift/Justin Bieber/whatever small fry act that needs something like this...

They've got a huge global fanbase that is literally salivating for a concert DVD and I think this will be a huge letdown for many fans who are expecting this to be a concert DVD.
  7. This is a bit disappointing, but these kinds of things never really disappoint me either. I get just as much pleasure out of watching something with interviews and other things as I do from a concert dvd, but that's usually when I have a concert dvd I can watch when that's what I feel like watching. Coldplay is long overdue for a well shot concert dvd, and this is almost teasing that notion. That being said, who knows, maybe the bluray will have a full concert type thing going without all the extra stuff. Doubt it, but who knows.

It reminds me of the Outside Broadcast special. It's an amazing video, but it just makes me yearn for a pro-shot dvd of a full outside broadcast show that has good camera work (like the special - it has better camera work than Sydney does - see Satellite of Love camera work ) and good sound (thus excluding the Washington show, which I do still love). NUFF BRACKETS. But you guys know what I mean. Sometimes the fans just want a full show.
  8. I'm wondering if it's just the Mylo Xyloto songs that are like this though. On the Scientist preview there was nothing like this. (at a glance, dont quote me on this)
  9. and on a side note, I think the drumming shots on this are fucking great, the way the camera is shaking the harder Will drums will probably be the highlight of the DVD for me.

The footage looks amazing! I will probably be bothered by the fact that it's not all from the same gig, but c'est la vie...
  11. Confirmed footage from the new DVD. I encourage everybody to watch them again because when I did, my opinion of this DVD was radically changed.

My initial thought was that it was going to be a letdown and not live up to the expectations of a live DVD. However, after watching these three videos, I'm throwing that opinion out the window and say that Coldplay's Live 2012 DVD will be a live DVD unlike any other. What stood out to me immediately was the cinematic work. It felt very dynamic to me and complemented the band's live style very well. Most live DVDs will have a "cinematic safespot" where the camera always tends to return to, probably to reconnect the viewer with a certain perspective of the concert. But since this DVD will be comprised of different gigs, this isn't possible. Even still, I was really impressed with the impact of the close-up shots, especially of the drum set. I was also initially put off by the other visual effects added to the scene, but after watching these three, I concluded that the effects were subtle enough to not impact the feel of the concert, but did add something to it. Charlie Brown was the real turning point for me. It's rare for concert DVD footage to send so many shivers down my spine. I would say that the Charlie Brown footage ranks very highly, probably second to Streets from Boston. My one complaint is that they removed the piano ending. I'm hoping it's only for the purpose of the promo and will not remain absent when the real thing releases.

Given this footage, I would say that it looks like it would rank above the Rose Bowl DVD, but probably not above either of the Vertigo or Elevation Tour DVDs. It would take a miracle for Coldplay to topple AIWIY/Streets, Bad/Streets, 40, or Miss Sarajevo live.
  12. that charlie brown footage is fucking incredible.
