1. The album has leaked!

I might or not might have some links to, huh, ehm, high definition scans of the *cough* artwork

  2. Send me a pm please.
  3. Just got home from the concert in Melbourne and omg. Hands down the best concert I've ever been to! Absolutely stunning performance! I'll post a full review tomorrow but for now it's sleepy time
  4. I'm watching the Live film tonight!!! Omg but first I have to register for Spring classes then take two tests... OH WELL COLDPLAY AFTER WOOT WOOT
  5. Listened to the Live 2012 CD today, my girlfriend likes Coldplay so I thought lets be nice and download it for her.

But am I the only one who can't stand Chris his live voice? The Live 2003 CD is great, but I dont know what it is on this CD and the concert I saw (Heared since I was working there) but his voice just irritates me nowadays.
  6. I love his live voice, but I can see how it's an acquired taste.

Listening to Coldplay Live 2012. Expect a review by the end of the day (Pacific time).

Yes, we've discussed this topic plenty of times - even with you saying the same haha. I agree with you, his voice just hasn't sounded right from 2007 on. I think he should take some singing lessons (being honest and serious here), it would definitely help him.
  8. Coldplay Live 2012 (audio CD):

    Highlights:
Major Minus - Finally, a recording that actually does this song justice. Major Minus is a very complex song with several different instrumental parts and usually bootlegs emphasize one and drown out the others. This recording actually allows each part to shine.

Princess Of China: I'm glad they chose a performance with Rhianna actually present. I'll still argue that the Paralympic performance was the greatest performance of the song I've ever seen, but I'll say that this was the greatest performance of the song I've ever heard, at least until they release an official mixed version of their Paralympic set.

Up In Flames: I don't know why, but this song gets me every single time I hear it.

Charlie Brown: I put my volume at maximum for this because I wanted my apartment mates, neighbors, and random people passing by to know that I was listing to Charlie Brown. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Charlie Brown is Coldplay's new anthem and easily the song that embodies the entire MX Tour. It's uplifting, life giving, motivating, and makes you feel like you can go out and take on the world. And much to my pleasure, the piano ending is there as icing on the cake.

Paradise: Probably the only song that can follow up Charlie Brown is Paradise. What I especially like about this recording is how clearly the piano comes through. I know people have criticized this song for being far too "pop like" and "over synthesized" on the album. It's a valid statement to make, but it's a totally different song performed live. I see it as a piano driven ballad as opposed to a synth pop song.

    Lowlights:
Mylo Xyloto and Hurts Like Heaven are listed as two separate tracks - by now everybody knows that MX is the intro to Hurts Like Heaven, so why not combine the two (like I ended up doing anyways)?

Viva La Vida: Not really a lowlight, but I noticed that the front end of the piano intro is cut short...

    Audio Mixing:
The bass and drums come out as the big winners as expected in a live CD. However, they don't overpower the other instrumental and vocal components. The audience is mixed in quite well and it really does feel like you are there in the crowd.

I may go on to say that depending on your preference, you may find the audio quality of this CD to be better than that of U22. The main question to ask is whether or not you like the echo effects of U22.

    Setlist:
While the setlist is on the shorter side of things, I personally think it flows quite well and is in fact a representation of their Mylo Xylotour. It features eight (or nine) songs from the new album.

    General feel:
Am I missing The Scientist and Lovers? Yes.
Does the fact that these tracks (among others) are not on the CD hurt my impression of it as a whole? No.

Coldplay has constantly expressed their desire for Mylo Xyloto and their tour to be a representation of something new for them, in essence the start of a new phase for the band and this CD definitely shows that. The new songs on the album are the forefront of the set while some of those old anthems we love remain to remind us that this is still Coldplay.

The CD definitely has something to say through the music and the band. I personally found listening to this to be extremely uplifting and motivating. There's clearly a progression throughout the set. In terms of sound, I like this quite a bit. I'd say it rivals with U22's mixing in that it conveys a feeling of closeness that U22 doesn't have.

Anyhow, I'd give this overall a 10/10. I would recommend this CD to everyone, regardless of whether or not they are a fan of Coldplay simply because it is a feel good CD loaded with simple feel-good songs.

I hope this review offers some insight to what we've got on our hands and I hope anybody lucky enough to see the film in theaters enjoys themselves. Based on what I'm hearing, I can only imagine how things will be with the surround sound of a theater...
  9. That is one passionate review. Despite providing you all the download links, I haven't listened to it myself. I will do later tonight, I dno't think I'll be that fond on it but it must be a great listen
