  2. Nothing wrong with having a few more years in the "Age" column - remember, 'cause of such a number, you've been able to see the great band live in the flesh. Until the next tour (and, if I'm unlucky enough, after that) I have to make do with DVDs and bootlegs etc. lol!

    Why do you think I advocate the adage "respect your elders"!?

    Well I didn't say I don't like Streets live, I just don't find anything in the live versions (guitar,vocals, buildup etc) over the album version. It's a very difficult song to play correctly, especially live, due to the frequent chord/time changes (as you remember Eno tried to erase the recording track).

    Anyway I'll have a listen to more shows on youtube, perhaps the Lovetown version will be good.

    PS:To Harry, don't you like the Rattle and Hum version of WOWY, that's the best version I've heard, then probably Eye of the Fly performance and Dancing ZooTV (stockholm). I can't remember much ISHFWILF live to argue with you.

    Heh, to quote mos people on this topic thus far, "I never said" I didn't like JT/LT era WOWY, they're my second favourite era for said song. I just prefer ZooTV. I like the R&H version a lot, but my favourite is from Paris 1992, and most 1st-3rd leg versions blow me away. Any version with the solo >> snippet arrangement gets my vote but ZooTV takes home the bacon for me. I still like the introduction of the format they've used since PopMart - I guess they're more like the album version with no solo or snippets, and I love the way it builds up into a big climax BUT there's nothing like a good solo to precede Bono singing "Yeah, we'll shine like stars..."...especially if it's from 1992

    I don't get this whole business with people complaining about Streets being difficult to play etc., unless the chord changes being referred to are the backing synths/organ...the guitar part is a piece of piss to play (the hard part is nailing the tone/sound), the bass is root notes for the most part plus the odd melody here and there - I'd say the hardest part to play would be the rhythm. Bono's vocals have been a point for complaint over the years, but he always gives it everything whenever they play it. No, it doesn't have certain elements that the album version has but I don't think it loses anything as a result.

  7. Indeed, as was Please, Bad, AlWIY etc....Streets is usually preceded by an epic number, whether it is segued into or not lol.


  8. What I meant by epic was that it's exciting and such. RTSS is epic in a solemn way, as is AIWIY and Please. Bad is the same as COBL, but as it ended it got solemn. If you were to have COBLbe the lead in, then it needs to be changed up a bit.
