1. Not saying that you have to. But I was saying that the band appreciate art in different forms. That's why they have collaborations with Frank Sinatra, Green Day, Johnny Cash, Pearl Jam, BB King, Mary J Blige, Jay Z, Rihanna, Roy Orbison (idk if that counts), and now Kendrick Lamar. It's a great song if you like hip hop. I can understand not liking the song if you don't like hip hop. But I wouldn't slag U2 for working with an artist they respect and are similar to. I'd have a problem if Bono tried actually rapping on the track or something along those lines, but it was like what a comment said above, more like a jazzy lounge type feel. They were just featured for a couple mins playing real instruments and singing. No rapping, no auto tune. Just U2 being U2, but on a hip hop track. Like I said, to each their own in terms of what someone prefers musically. I just wouldn't let the collab with Kendrick Lamar scare you into thinking that they're selling out or SOE will suck. It's a small collab, nothing they haven't done before. Well, in terms of collaboration lol definitely not hip hop
  2. I just don't like the song. And I have real concerns about SOE. If this will be the standard. That's all.
  3. This song isn't even for us, it's for Kendrick Lamar fans / fans of this genre. There's a lot of Kendrick Lamar fans out there that are actually really surprised how good this track sounds because it is such an unlikely collaboration. I don't care for the track that much but it's far from horrible. It has nothing to do with SOE. Kendrick isn't going to invite U2 onto his album and give them free rein over the track to create something for U2 fans, that's not his target audience. You're not the target audience. SOE will be targeted at you and it won't sound anything like this.

Ok. I hope so. They have taken their time to create something good.
In my ears this xxx song sounds really lazy. And that's what bothers me.
  5. Listening over and over, sounds fresh, the U2 part is smooth, jazz like, like someone said, has a POP/Million Dollars vibe, I dig it very much, I really like Kendrick, I think his work is amazing, To Pimp A Butterfly is one of the best albums of the last 10 years for sure to me, this colaboration is very cool and creative, two big artists with big creative minds to do good music, thats cool as hell
  6. Personally I think the U2 part sounds great! I can hear those drums be totally LMJ

  7. OH YOU

But honestly speaking, the track has a very traditional vibe to it, resorting to smoother, more jazz like sounds as opposed to modern hip hop that sounds very synthetic and sampled. Bono is used very well here because they don't make him rap and allow him to actually sing. On that note, his voice sounds really good

While not what I would normally listen to, I've come to really appreciate traditional rap and hip hop because it comes off as really really smooth. Also, this song would have fit right in on Luke Cage.
  8. I've listened for the second time (only the U2 part thanks ) and I still think it's useless and doesn't fit, but at least I didn't vomit this time. My keyobard just thanked me.
