1. Update on Harry's search for an Explorer - SORTED! Got one off eBay for £280 inc. p&p, so it actually fetched £255 which is a damn sight cheaper than what I would have originally paid for a new Epi. I think it's one of the Korean-made vintage rather than the newer Chinese ones (with the slightly dubious reputation) so I think that's all the better. Should be here by Monday, if not before, so with any luck I'll be getting pictures up in a week or so - the wait is almost over!!!

Heh, yeah, you're right but unfortunately it turns out that Epiphone have recently moved all their European operations to one sodding warehouse for the entire continent, and have been having trouble keeping up with demand, so basically the one I ordered was yet to come into existence and I had at least another 3 months to wait or something ridiculous, so I went to eBay to look for a bargain and found one. It's been a right old drag seeing as I actually got round to the hunt for one in December and the estimated arrival date has been pushed back over and over again, so I kinda got a bit fed up. I'm not impatient by nature, but constantly thinking "it might be here soon!" and finding out you were premature with your hopes gets a bit irritating lol. I was never bothered as to whether it was brand new or 2nd hand, I just wanted to get my hands on an Explorer, not to mention I'm a sucker for a bargain lol so when the dust settled I was over the moon. It's a lot easier to wait when you know there is actually a guitar wending its way towards you as opposed to simply a concept waiting to be created

And I also agree about Nick's Discotheque tone, that sounded pretty good!

Explorers are one of the more consistent and better made items in the Epiphone catalog.

    Congrats
  6. What do you guys think a reasonable would be to sell my strat for? It's a sunburst mexican strat with GFS 70's Texas Greybottoms in it. It's in the shop getting checked out right now (there was something wrong with the output of the middle pickup). I don't know how much the repairs will cost, usually close to 100$. I was thinking of trying to sell it for around 400$, would that be too much?

How is it? Is it any kind of damaged or aged or so, or does it look fine? Aspect is pretty much part of the price, I wouldn't buy an amazing guitar with the best pickups if it's not pretty and doesn't look right That price sounds reasonable anyway, 350-450 $ for a second-hand Mex Strat is reasonable

Are you crazy? beaten up guitars look much better than brand new ones. For me that is.
  9. It looks fine. No damage at all. I wouldn't say I like beaten up guitars haha. They have to have a certain look to them. Like the new Road Worn strats are beautiful. I love the look of the sunburst one. However, I picked one up in the store and I hated the feel of it. I didn't like it at all. But anyway, I like hte look of a finish wearing off, but not like dented and scratched up and stuff.

Thanks for the opinion on the price Alex.

Well I'm called Sergio but I'll accept it
  11. That's a matter of taste, mate Depending on the guitar, a bit of this-has-been-heavily-used aspect is really good, but I would never buy a cracked, scratched and beaten up guitar.
  12. My bad Sergio!!! I actually know your name (real name, according to your username), i was just half asleep hahah, sorry dude. How's the Gibson treating you? You still playing it or did your grandpa or whatever take it back? lol.
