He starts crying during WOWY, I mean I don't know why in particular, but it must be related to the best part of 60k people singing a song he wrote almost 20 years ago at the time - I'm sure he still loves it, but I agree about Streets. Apart from the odd exception here and there, I miss the real grit after the first chorus when he starts singing "the city's aflood"...

Something else was up at Honolulu. Couldn't have been the song or the crowd as he got that every single night of the tour. You can just see by his body language and his movements when watching these gigs that he is just in the song. Download this and watch him bounce about during Ultraviolet and his face during WOWY. It's brilliant. So many little touches that just show you how they were the best band ever

I know he did ("get that every single night of the tour" as you say), but perhaps it was just like the climax of a monster tour. I will DL everything eventually, but I don't doubt you for an instant - ZooTV was awesome. Is it compatible (the show) compatible with normal media player?

True, I think Honolulu was more to do with the culmination of the tour rather than the song itself. This will run fine on a normal media player but a little small. I'd upload it with a larger resolution but I wouldn't be arsed splitting it into multiple files

Without whipping up another political discussion, you think Bono's speeches now have got in the way?

not only the speeches, just his overall demeanor. He just isn't the same guy. Hard to pinpoint exactly but since Popmart he has very rarely made me think 'fuck, what a guy'. I got that from watching this gig. He's more of a showman now, back then he was the show.

Hmm, hopefully the new album will reinvigorate your faith in them mate. They are better than anything else doing the rounds though, in my opinion.

*ahem* Political Discussion forum beckons lol...I don't think the speeches are the problem, I think it's more the quantity of them and the manner he promoted his political issues over the last tour that were the issues. Remember, he's always had a political agenda (apart from Lovetown, Boy or October tours, I suppose), but it was never so formatted in the past.

I think you've hit something on the head there.

I haven't lost faith and I expect great things from this year onwards. All the signs look promising. I just can't appreciate any of their work from this decade so far. I can watch the Slane DVD but thats about it. I can't listen to a full Elevation or Vertigo gig at all, I just get bored to tears. Luckily though, before this decade the 2 that came before it were filled with all sorts of goodness

Very true. That One speech ran like clockwork evey night and really it was just too f*ckin long! You even had a speech in the middle of a bloody song last tour. Too much. I think old Bono assumed a different character when on stage whereas today the "real Bono" and the "show Bono" are pretty much one and the same.

Sorry I didn't mean that you were growing out of them, more your opinion of U2 on a U2 scale, if you get me, i.e. hopefully they'll return near to the heights of Lovetown and ZooTV (and, dare I say, PopMart - just listened to the whole Sarajevo show, fucking awesome . By the by, has anyone got around to uploading the Santiago show to MF yet?)
