The Killers challenge U2's top spot

I think U2 may be the last band for quite some time to have that global or universal appeal that touches almost every country on the planet. They are huge, everyone knows it, everyone has heard of them, and no one currently has that pinnacle of success.

These types of bands are a dying breed especially with the internet and the fragmentation of rock into so many different aspects. I've never seen the rock scene be so fragmented with the US seemingly going is some direction(god knows what it is - ya I'm talking about neo-punk shite) that is completely different how UK/Europe are going.

U2 are a balance above all that, which can appeal to the masses. They're reliable and a proven success. If you're young or older you can pick and choose from a plethora of the back catalogue to enjoy. The latest of very successful rock bands(post 90s), with the exception of a few, can barely scratch what U2 have done or will do. They all sound the same and do the same thing on every record.

U2 offer you something to sink your teeth into every time.
