-Streets Intro: Bono screams as the drums kick in, and when the lights went on, I looked around and watched the whole arena going ballistic, the image has never left me.

-After "Streets" I noticed how deafeningly LOUD the arena was. Bono said, "the sound of a 747 taking off from MSG"

  2. I went to the cardiff vertigo concert- 29 june 2005. first u2 concert i went to, i was looking forward to it and waiting 4 them to come on stage and then a crazy person ran at people near us with a flick knife. not a great view but eager to see them again.

has any1 been in the elipse? how do u manage to get in there? on the dvd it shows people having their tickets scanned so that the chose elipse people is random, but there again i thought it was those who stood in line the longest. anyone know?

At the Vertigo Tour tehre were 2 different stages: one with a closed ellipse (for the American & Canadian legs) and one with an open ellipse (the stage for the European, South America and Pacific' legs). The method to enter the closed ellipse is the one withthe magnetized tickets, for America (evidently, is the one which you see in the official DVD of Chicago, which is in USA ). But to enter the European ellipse, you "only" had to wait the longest at the stadium queue (that in Spain meant 16 hours, and even so we only got a semi-enter ellipse place!!).

I hope you like my explanations.

  4. But how did u know before the gig that there was going to be an open elipse? Because those people who waited the longest in the american leg may have waited for no reason and been disappointed as they used a magnetic randomised operation.
  5. from these dates you can tell i'm an old twat!!

    Manchester apollo 10/11/84

My first EVER gig,16 years old and what a way to introduce me to U2 live.I am vertically challenged but this helped me get pulled to the front of the stage with adam right in my face.happy days!

    Milton keynes bowl,Longest day 22/6/85

Pissing down with rain all day,I had no coat! this was the day R.E.M got loads of bottles of piss thrown at them, although looking back they were rather shite on the day!

    Birmingham N.E.C 3/8/87

Can't remember much, but I was right at the back.

    Zooropa Leeds roundhay park 14/8/93

If you listen to the pop boot from leeds apparently Bono thought it was the best gig from Zoo TV,of course I believe him!!Another gig that I was miles away from the stage.

    Popmart Leeds roundhay park 28/8/97

I was by the B stage where the 40 foot Lemon ended up for this gig.Another day of rain and warm beer!but the support band Cast were very good

Missed Elevation,to this day very pissed off!

    And finally Manchester vertigo 14/6/05

I got into the inner circle purely by chance and was by Edge's B stage.strange one this one cos there wasn't much atmosphere, partly due to why the boot is called a light night in manchester.

Amsterdam Arena sucks, although on 2001-07-16 amazing, amazing setlist.
